His heart stopped. His breath caught in his throat. The voices cheering and the sounds of celebration were slowly fading. They all cheered. Prisoners and guards alike. They all wanted this day to come. They had waited for this day to come. They had prayed for this day to come. But not him. He thought it was impossible. This day would never come. It could never come. But it came. It was now.

"Heh, finally! Now maybe all those others who follow him so devotedly will follow him to death!" This came from a prison guard.

"Doubt it. But they will at least stop trying to up step him." This came from a prisoner.

Everyone was celebrating this death. Everyone was glade for this death. Except him. He felt nothing except an odd numbing pain. He could not move from his spot. His thoughts circled around and around. He is dead. He died.

But that was not possible. It could not be possible. He couldn't die. He was too strong for that. Too clever. He always had a backup plan and a backup for his backup. Why would he become so careless? He couldn't die. Not him. Not his best friend. Not his partner in crime.

"'bout time he died too." That was it. He couldn't take it. They were wrong.

"SHUT UP! He's not dead! He can't die! He can't! You'll see, he's not dead. He's not." For the first time in his life, he cried.

It was a decade and a half later when they heard the news. Someone broke into the Rekai Vaults. That was something that should not have been possible. There was no way anyone could pull that off. Everyone knew that. Except him. He knew who could do that. He knew he wasn't dead, but he wanted everyone else to know that he was right. To know that he had told them all along that he wasn't dead.

"Who did it?" he asked very calmly. The head guard looked over at him nervously. He didn't want to admit that the 'mad-man' was right. But the murmurs of encouragement and similar outburst forced him to answer.

"Youko Kurama." He smiled. He knew it. He knew he couldn't die. He knew.

"Heh. Told you so." With that he walked out of the courtyard. Everyone watched. Everyone was nervous and fearful. Everyone knew that he had said that he wasn't dead. And look what happened. But he also said that his partner would come back for him…so would he?
