Chapter One

He looked down at the coffin, where his mother's body lay still. He could remember everything his mother said and did, how she spoke, how she fought, how she cared. He remembered the night his aunt and uncle came home to tell him the news.

One Week Before

He sat doing his homework. A junior in high school, he had hard classes like geometry. He couldn't even spell geometry. How was he supposed to measure angles and find the distance between point xyz and abc. He tapped his pencil down on the notebook, trying to make some sense out of the homework that was in front of him.

The door downstairs opened, as people entered the house. He was up past his restricted bed time. He found it ironic that he was 17 years old, yet he still had a bedtime. He threw all his books on the floor, turned his lights off, and got under the covers.

As the people outside his room passed by, he could distictly hear someone crying. He guessed it was Willow, judging by the somewhat high pitched sound of the cry. He had a huge heart, just like his mother, so he got out of bed.

He trudged down the hallways, wearing his pajama pants and t-shirt and knocked on the door at the end of the hallway.

"Come in."

He opened up the door and walked in. They were both sitting there on the bed, crying. He walked up to them and sat next to them, putting his hand on their shoulders.

"What's wrong? What happened?"

Present Time

He looked down at his mother and kissed her cheek gently. He sat down in the isles and waited for the funeral to start. He looked at Willow, Xander, Faith, and Spike (the funeral was at night) and then looked at the little booklet in his hand.

Buffy Anne Summers

"Mom..." A small tear formed in his eyes.

Should I continue?
