Okay, a quick one shot. I saw the Matrix Revolutions movie last night and wanted to understand better what was going through Neo's mind before he went to defeat Agent Smith. Also, I wanted to guess what was going through the Oracle's mind when she was asked the question by the little girl. This is my interpretation. I hope you like.

He wanted to weep, but he had lost that ability.

"Trin. . . please. . . don't go," he begged.

But he was too late. Trinity had breathed her last. There was nothing he could do. This wasn't the matrix. He couldn't do as he had done with the bullet.

It's my fault. It's all my fault. If I had refused to allow her to come along, she would be safe with Morpheus. Back in Zion, he thought, drowning in his misery.

Trin!!! he screamed mentally. TRIN!!!!!

"You must go on without me, Neo. Soon, this will be over. Go, now. Zion depends on you," he heard her voice say.

Fuck Zion, he replied. If it wasn't for Zion, you'd be alive, dammit!

"If it wasn't for Zion, we would have never met, Neo. I am grateful for the little time we had."

He stumbled to his feet, knowing that she was right. He couldn't deny that she was right.

Zion needed him like he needed Trinity.

"Will we see Neo again, Oracle?" asked the little Indian girl.

She smiled, for the child's sake. "I suspect so."

But only when we desperately need him. For now, he has the forever that he wanted with Trinity. The forever that was denied.
