The events of this story actually happened to me. The song kind of goes with how I felt. For my friends' sake, I will not be using names in this story.

It started out as a Wednesday night like any other. Our youth minister made the announcements, we had worship, then the middle school and high school split up like we always do. But this time, our middle school minister had something different planned. He asked two of the boys to leave the room. They were told that they would be pretending to be on a roller coaster, but when they left, the middle school minister told us that we would be pretending they were on the toilet. We watched the skit, everyone thought it was funny. I couldn't believe that they'd done this in the church! It was totally wrong! I knew I should say something.

Oh what I would do to have

The kind of faith it takes

To climb out of this boat I'm in

Onto the crashing waves

To step out of my comfort zone

Into the realm of the unknown

Where Jesus is

And he's holdin' out his hand

I looked around. apparently I was the only one who saw anything wrong with this skit. Everyone else was still smiling.

But the waves are callin' out my name

And they laugh at me

Reminding me of all the times

I've tried before and failed

The waves they keep on telling me

I couldn't ignore the feeling anymore. I opened my Bible to Philippians 4:8. I raised my hand.

But the voice of truth

Tells me a different story

The voice of truth

Says 'Do not be afraid'

And the voice of truth

Says 'This is for my glory'

Out of all the voices callin' out to me

I will choose to listen and believe

When the middle school minister called on me, I said, "That skit we just did was wrong! Philippians 4:8 says 'Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.'" Then I looked him straight in the eye and said, "Was there anything excellent or praiseworthy about that skit?" He replied. "Ah, there was nothing wrong with it." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. They blew me off!

But the giant's callin' out my name

And he laughs at me

But somehow I knew I'd done the right thing. My parents talked to him. He didn't agree with what we said, but he hasn't done any skits like that since. I'm glad that I stood up that night.

But the stone was just the right size To put the giant on the ground

And the waves, they don't seem so high

When I stop and listen to the
