The train whistled softly, signalling to passengers that it is taking off to its destination. A forlorn girl sat by the window and watched the world passed by her, sighing as she looked down at the notebook she has in her hands. The notebook was worn and had many wrinkled pages. That's goes to show how long she had kept the book with her.

'Just another drifting trip huh... I hope Magnolia isn't like the rest of the towns.' Her eyes fluttered close and the world soon goes dark.

"Attention everyone we are reaching Magnolia... I repeat, we are reaching Magnolia..." The girl opened her eyes and quickly got up to get her things before getting off the train, breathing in the fresh air of the town after a long trip in the train. The buildings and many wizards doing about their businesses caught her attention and she observed the town doing its own thing. She strolled and made mental notes when she spotted some magic stores to remind herself that she would need to stop by them once she managed to do some anonymous missions. "I wonder if they also have a guild in town..."

The answer to her curious question came as soon as she said it because she spotted a majestic building that it is a 2-story high building. If the flag and the sign above the double doors state 'Fairy Tail' doesn't ring guild then she must be very dumb. However, she is not. The sun was rapidly setting and there were no decent inns and she haven't managed to explore the entire Magnolia because it seemed to be bigger than the other towns she had been to before. She paused, thinking about whether to camp out or to just ask for a night stay in the guild building? She shrugged, if the guild wanted to kick her out she wouldn't mind after all, she was very well known to be a very aloof person and adding the fact that she is just a random civilian girl with magic powers. Moreover, she only made a name for herself just only by drifting from town to town. She weighed out the pros and cons and finally after making the final decision, she gave a push at the double doors but due to her frail body it didn't open fully thus, she had to put in all of her body weight to make the doors open a decent size for her to slip through.

When she finally managed to fit through the decent gap, she was greeted by a brawl and many objects flying all over and she muttered to herself why did she even bothered to enter when she could've camped out. There were too many things going on for her to comprehend and she had to creep slowly, avoiding and ducking away the many weird objects that seemed to appear out of nowhere. Or maybe it was just the wizards' magics? Anyhow, she finally made it to what it seemed like a bar with a very beautiful barmaid tending to it. The barmaid looked up from cleaning a glass cup and she smiled gently at the girl.

"Why hello little miss! Oh my, did you eat enough? You are so frail!" The girl blinked, looking at the ground. "Just needed a place to stay, I can't find any decent inns."

The barmaid rose a delicate eyebrow.

"Have you been travelling all by yourself? How did you even survive, pardon me but you don't strike me as a type to be able to fend for oneself." The girl gave a small scoff, still not looking up to make eye contact with the barmaid. "I have my ways. Besides, it is only just a night. After that, I would be gone before you even know it."

"I think you should join us."

The girl jumped a little but not enough to make her heart racing as she spotted a small old man walking down the stairs from the 2nd level and walking towards to the two girls. "Ah hello Master! Would you like your usual?"

The old man nodded, thanking the barmaid in gratitude before looking at the frail girl. "I've heard about you, the infamous 'Drifter'. Tell me young child, what do you desire?" The small girl deadpanned at the question, not looking at any of them. "If I desired something, I wouldn't be travelling all over the continent."

The two wizards looked at each other and one briefly nodded before looking back at the girl.

"How about you join us? Maybe this family could help you with your personal problem." It was very brief but the old man saw a twinkle in the void and dull eyes of the girl. She slowly looked up, still not looking at their faces. "Hmph... why not I guess?"

The barmaid grinned, a guild stamper in her hand.

"Where would you like your guild mark at?"

"The back of my right hand, in grey colour." The barmaid happily applied the mark for her. "Please call me Mirajane!"

"Then I am Aki Kobayashi.
