"Sweetie, wake up," Cooed the gentle voice of my mother. I slowly opened my eyes, squinting from the sudden brightness.

"Whu….where are we?" I questioned, slurring my words together and yawning.

"About two miles from the station, darling," she had started using these annoying terms of endearment ever since I got accepted into Tumblr U. Tumblr U. Just thinking the words set a swarm of butterflies loose in my stomach. I had learned of this strange place while casually scrolling down my dash (who am I kidding, there is no casually when I am on Tumblr, I've been known to stay in my room for days at a time whenever this mystical entanglement of a social networking site lures me into its trap). The post described the University as "…a utopia for young, intellectual, and, most importantly, enthusiastic scholars…" I was immediately intrigued and printed out the application, not believing I could actually get into such a wonderful place. I filled it out and mailed it in the next day.

Three weeks had past when I received a strange (and quite large) envelope in the mail. It was an unassuming envelope, crisp, white, addressed to me in deepest, most familiar blue… I eagerly ripped the seal (a lower case t, I had to be dreaming…). I read the first words in a state of shock, "Congratulations! You have been accepted into Tumblr University!" I don't remember what happened next, but my mother informed me that she had heard an extremely loud screech and ran to check on me. She found me sprawled on the floor, clutching the letter in a death grip, a huge grin spread across my face.

I emerged from my reverie to see a large, stone train station outside of the front window. It was beautiful, gleaming in the sun like that. It seemed to have all of my euphoric feels and hope for the future captured within its design. I felt nervous. So nervous, yet excited, and more than a little lightheaded. I climbed out of the car, shaking slightly. My mother had appeared beside me, carrying my trunk.

"Ready?" She asked, a twinge of sadness in her eyes. I didn't need to use my skills of deduction to see that she was unhappy that I was to be so far away. My mother is so sentimental. I nodded and picked up my bag. We walked up the steps and through the big, gate-like doors. I smiled as I said goodbye to the world I had grown accustomed to, all too happy to trade it for this new, exciting, adventure.
