Something in Tohru had died that day, when she had fallen off the house roof- when Kyo had jumped out of his window to catch her. His warm arms wrapped around him, then the small orange cat found nearly crushed to death under her after she fell. She had her arms crossed and cushioning her head as she sobbed into Kyo's sheets. She felt him stir but she didn't look up. "Tohru?" His voice was horse. "Why are you crying, you're not hurt are you?"She looked up, her face and arms soaked in tears. "Kyo, I'm so sorry, I never should have tripped." She wiped her face. "It just wouldn't be you if you hadn't." he said. He shifted his wait slightly and grimmest against the pain. She went up to him and took his hand and he winced. She began to let go but he held hers more tightly. She lied down next to him still holding his hand. She could feel the warmth coming from this hand into hers. She could feel the way she felt in the strands of orange hair poking her in the eye. She smiled to herself and gripped Kyos hand tighter. She would never let go, she would never lose him.

By the time Shigure walked in Tohrus feet had instinctively woven themselves around Kyos blanket covered ones. She was facing the same way as him and his hand, still tightly clutched by Tohrus was on her side. She had passed out- her worry for Kyo overwhelming her, and Kyo was sleeping as well; snoring softly beside her. Shigure could have thought of dozens of puns or insults, but instead he just placed a blanket over Tohru and left, knowing full well not even he could fool with something so strong.
