Ch.1
None of this is making sense! This really wasn't some trap set up by MAD was it? No, if Dr. Claw was ever interested in using Penny as leverage than he'd already inform me. If Dr. Claw wanted something from me he'd tell me what those specific reasons were.
Inspector Gadget could only reach one possible conclusion.
She knows better than to go following me when I'm on an assignment! Penny would never disobey me! Why, what was so important to Penny that she felt the need to place herself in danger?
The Inspector wasn't sure how to treat most of Penny's injuries that she acquired from some MAD thugs.
Penny! Penny how could you do this to your own Uncle!? What made you think this was okay? How in God's name did you know I was here!
He wasn't so bright at attempting first-aid so he decided to wait for the ambulance and Chief Quimby to arrive to take care what he wasn't capable of handling. He only hoped that help was coming soon. He noticed blood running thickly from Penny's left nostril and bruises forming near her forehead.
Shaky gloved hands hovered over his unconscious niece Penny. He knelt beside her to check her vitals he rested two fingers against Penny's thready weak pulse to remind himself she wasn't beaten nearly to death.
It's not fair, Penny! This isn't fair, I was supposed to come home knowing you were safe and protected! You can't die, not like this, not this way!
It was Gadget's perceived ideals of a happy homestead that destroyed this perception completely now he was aware of Penny's presence.
So-so now I have to sit back and watch you suffer, is that it? Just sit back while Dr. Claw has his little laugh at our expense now the case is over! None of this is fair, nothing about this situation is okay! This wasn't supposed to happen!
Please don't leave me!
