Every team should have a good leader. The Biker Mice have none other than Throttle. This story is about this more reflective and thoughtful leader.

Throttle and the Sunset

The Biker Mice had just finished stopping Lawrence Limburger from blowing up the governor of Chicago's mansion by rewiring the explosives meant for his home to Limburger Tower. The sight of the tower blown to pieces delighted our heroes as they high-fived each other with their tails celebrating their victory. They rode into the Quigley scoreboard.

"You bros go on inside. I'm gonna hang outside." Throttle told his bros.

"'Guess I'll go see what's on the tube." Vinnie said, "See ya, bro." He rode inside. Modo hung back.

"You okay, Throttle?" Modo asked. He could tell something was bothering his friend.

"I'm good, Modo. I'll be right in."

Modo waved at him and rode off.

Throttle rode to the end of the scoreboard and looked up at the sky. What he saw startled him. The sun was going down. A sunset? He remembered he saw a sunset on his last date with Carbine. Would he ever see her again? He could still picture her-long, dark hair and a gentle smile. He remembered holding her in his arms and kissing her. He wanted so badly to tell her how much he loved her and what she meant to him, but he didn't have the courage. He thought it was really pathetic. He could clobber a thousand Plutorkians with one hand tied behind his back but he couldn't tell the woman he loved how he felt about her. Would he ever get the chance?

With Carbine, he didn't have to. She knew his heart better than he did. He also knew she loved him, too. She never wanted to be separated from him. When was all that? Before the Plutorkians arrived and strip-mined their planet. Now the stink-fishes were making Earth their next target. Will they ever stop them? Will they ever see Mars again? Throttle watched as the sun went down. He saw the sky change from pale blue to dark blue. He knew the answer to his questions.

He and his bros would fight tooth and nail to keep everything and everyone they cared about safe. They would protect Earth at all costs. He knew they would return to Mars someday. Earth was their home for now but Mars would always be home.
