Dear Readers:
This is a story that involves fantasy, mystery, romance, action, and a little bit of scary stuff. Tis why this story is rated T. If you don't like fantasy, you wont like this. If you don't like Digimon, you wont like it either. If you don't like dragons, then probably this isn't the story for you.
In this story, I will take you to a world where dragons and nymphs and centuars and pegasuses and other fantasy creatures exist. The hero of this story just happens to be Takuya, from Frontier. However, he is not the only Frontier character who will be in the story. In fact, perhaps some explaining is due on my part, but you are probably already sick of my babbling.
I will give you a preview, something that happens later on, and you can then decide if this story seems worth reading. I hope you think so. It is the one I have put the most thought into. I am very proud of it. And so without further ado, let me introduce you to a world in which a dragon falls in love with a human, and their son is faced with the terror and trouble of being a 'half-breed', looked on with contempt by both dragons and humans alike. What is his story? Would you like to find out?
(------)
Disclaimer: I do not own Digimon, nor any of its characters. I have created a world in which dragons exist, and yet not in the same way that you would normally think of. I can't really claim dragons, because I didn't make them up, but these characters are my own. And I worked very hard on every character and name.

Takuya held his stomach as the urge to vomit continued. He'd never felt so sick in his life. Bile rushed to his mouth, and he squeezed his lips shut in an effort to hold it in. He couldn't do it again, not after everything he'd been through. He had to be strong, had to keep going. He had to pass this test today, right now, or spend another year in preparation. I have to pass, he insisted to himself. I have to. If I quit now I'll have to start over. It's now or never.
"Having a problem?" Takuya's instructor asked, eyeing him with a doubtful expression. "If you can't continue, then you are not ready."
Takuya felt panic springing up inside him, and he straightened up as quickly as he could. "No," he blurted, "Master, I am ready to continue now. My human side was giving me some trouble, but I overcame that." He stared urgently at his teacher and straightened his back. "I am ready."
"Very Well…" Master … frowned, unconvinced, but motioned for his student to follow him. "Your next test will begin in five minutes. I will allow you one glass of water…for your human side. You may need it to survive." With that, he passed Takuya a goblet filled with water, and walked away.
Takuya stared at the water in his hands and felt as if he'd never seen anything more beautiful. Water! His mind screamed out from inside him. The precious drops of liquid gleamed in the scorching sunlight, reflecting Takuya's pale face. This one small cup of water, a thrill a Fire Dragon could never enjoy, was a gift he had not expected. He's being kind to me, he thought. Where most of the dragons hate half-breeds, he is giving me water. He smiled and took a tiny sip, savoring the cool freshness on his scorched throat. Blowing fire was harder than he thought it would be.
He stared down into the cup of water, about to take another drink, when the feeling of eyes on his back startled him. Either training had made him paranoid, or someone was staring at him. He turned around and looked about him, searching to see who was around. To his surprise, someone was watching him, eyeing him and his cup of water with such longing it almost tore Takuya apart.
A girl—she had to be a young girl by the looks of her face—was standing by the edge of the training compound, a sorrowful look on her face. Takuya would have ignored her if not for the expression etched in her eyes. Those eyes, so large, so deep, so blue, and yet so lifeless and dry, stared into his without blinking. Her long hair hung behind her lifelessly, and though she stood completely still, her arms looked as if they were longing, reaching, for the water Takuya held in his hands.
Takuya walked up to her slowly, watching her face. She glared at him with an expression of hatred. As he came closer, it became apparent what she was. Her unmistakable fin-like ears confessed that she was nothing other than a Water Nymph. Of all creatures in this world, the two that hated each other the most were Water Nymphs and Dragons. No other races so completely enjoyed the slaughtering and torturing each other as these two did. It was clear what she was thinking as Takuya slowly walked up to her. "I hate you," her eyes screamed. "I hate you and your kind, but I need water. I'm lost, dying, and dehydrated. But you're all the same aren't you? Teasing me with water and then burning me with fire…"
Takuya tore his eyes away from hers. The hatred was so great he almost walked away. No, he insisted, that's just what she expects. I can't do that. He forced himself to turn back to her, trying to smile. Slowly, he held out the goblet filled with water, offering it to her.
"What are you doing so far away from home?" he asked quietly. "I wouldn't expect to see one like you in such a water-deprived land. No other place I know screams 'desert' like this place." He offered a smile, still holding out the goblet to the wary nymph. She stared at the goblet longingly then back at Takuya with a wary frown. She didn't answer him. Takuya sighed, and was suddenly reminded how sick he felt. He didn't have much time until he had to move on to the next test. "Please," he said urgently, quietly. "Please take this. I am thirsty, I know. But however thirsty I am you must be ten times more so than I am. Please take it. I don't have much time."
The water nymph needed no other encouragement. She grabbed the water and breathed it down, as if absorbing it into her like oxygen. She handed the cup back to Takuya without touching him, and gazed into his eyes forcefully. "More," she commanded him. "More water."
Takuya sighed and shook his head, stepping back with a regretful expression. "I'm sorry," he told her. "I don't have any more. I wont have any more for hours, maybe days. My last cup of water was two days ago." He licked his parched lips, remembering the tiny sip he'd taken, and wished wistfully for some more of the life-giving liquid he could no longer have. No, he thought wryly, there would be no more water for a while.
The water nymph turned angrily from him and left, barely walking as if she were dying. Takuya watched her leave, his stomach growing sicker. If only there was something more he could do for her… "Not even a thank you…" he sighed, and turned to find his master waiting for him.
"Are you ready then?" Master … asked, his expression blank. Takuya could not tell if he had seen what had happened, or if he was just dismissing it.
"Yes," Takuya lied, feeling completely the opposite of ready. "I am."
The dragon nodded and led the way to the next test, one Takuya knew would not only be harder but more dangerous than the last one. Maybe he would end up needing that water he just gave away.
