Glancing at all these couples, I've never realised how lonely I was tonight. It was Prom, and after the first one I'm not sure why we are having another, but luckily for me it's not run by Tori.
I glance over at Beck and Jade, making out on the stairs from the roof to the asphalt café. Then Cat who was dancing around with a boy named Phillip. He seemed pretty cool, more talented than me. Then to Andre singing with is girlfriend Tiffany to the song that was playing. I know they're both oblivious to see it, but they're soul mates. The way he smiles when she walks into HA, the way they both sing on time, their sense of humour. It was their deal, and it actually made me smile seeing him so happy.
Who was left? Tori. Tori Vega. Shocking to hear but it's true.
She's sitting two seats down fake smiling at the couples. I catch her looking at me, and now everything is awkward. We both stare at each other but it stops when Tori gives a warm friendly smile. I get out of the chair and move to sit next to her. She straightens her arched back and breathes slowly.
"So Andre and Tiffany… they're pretty close…. Like-"
"Soul mates" I bud in
Tori looks at me confused but then gives another reassuring smile
"Yeah, soul mates"
She looks back at them and smiles, then our conversation turns back to an awkward silence like from the start. I slouch down in my chair. It was going to be a long night and honestly I didn't want to be here, but I have nothing to do at home, and mum wanted me to try on the suit.
We both look around. It was freezing cold, I could see my breath.
"Look, I think I'm going to go, Robbie"
She has a sort of guilty look in her eyes, maybe because she knows I'll be alone.
"Don't" I say softly "Please stay"
Tori was way too nice to say no, so she didn't say anything at all. She turned her back and was about to walk away, when I grab her hand and stand up next to her
"Don't you know how lovely you are?"
She looked around and shrugged a little.
"Tori, the night is young, you'll find a partner, you're Tori, it's not impossible!"
Tori's eyes harden and her expression turned mad.
"Fine Robbie" She yells "If someone wanted to go to prom with me, then tell me who that person is! I'm sick and tired of people saying I'm so pretty and how I should have a boyfriend, where is he then, Robbie? Who would of gone to prom with me if they weren't so shy?"
"Me"
Tori's expression isn't angry anymore, but it's not happy either. She looked guilty, and I sort of regret what I said. We both let go, and walked opposite directions. We didn't talk the rest of the night. Now I have two days to think about what happen until I see her again on Monday and I'm a mess.
