If Gingivere Was Ruler

Have you ever wondered what would have happened if Lord Verdauga gave Gingivere the "reins?" This happens quite a while before Martin comes along.

Chapter One: Deaths

The wildcat Tsarmina entered regally into her sick father's bedchamber. "Father," she said worriedly, "you seem so tired this morning."

Verdauga smiled weakly at her headstrong daughter. "I am thinking…… Who will rule after me?" Verdauga loved her daughter, who was just like his wife, Tsing, but he couldn't help to notice the fanatic gleam in his daughter's eyes. He sighed.

"Gingivere will rule."

Tsarmina stood, shocked. Then she snarled, "That is not fair! I am the oldest. I am smarter, braver, more, more, better!" Tsarmina stopped, breathing in.

"I have made my decision." Verdauga said flatly.

Snarling, Tsarmina leaped at her father. Verdauga had been expecting this. He rolled aside and stood roaring on the floor of the room. Tsarmina whirled around, growling. Verdauga leaped toward Tsarmina's back and together they rolled on the floor, clawing, biting, hissing and spitting. This convinced Verdauga he would have to make sure Gingivere would rule.

In perfect health, Verdauga would have easily won, but he was tired and sick.

Gingivere burst in through the door. "Father, sister, no!"

You must remember now, this story takes place where supplies still has not run low. The Corim is in existence, but it is not very strong yet.

Two large blocks of stone were set in the castle courtyard with a layer of moss over them. Flowers were set on its edges. On one stone block lay Verdauga, the other one Tsarmina. They were both dead.

Gingivere sniffled in the front of the, no his army. "Rest peacefully!" he called to his family. Louder, he said, "Lord Verdauga died fighting Tsarmina for my sake. Tsarmina is my sister, so I can not ignore her. For my father's sake, I will take on the role of leading Kotir!" His voice, which had been quiet and unsure at first, developed in a booming crescendo.

"Let there be peace in the world! Let our lands flourish and joy and kindness! May our kin in the Dark Forest look down at us with kind eyes! Let us prevail!"

The crowd started cheering and eventually the words were,

"Hail Gingivere, King of Mossflower!"

"Ruler of Kotir!"

"Lord of the Thousand Eyes!"

"Savior of the Land!"

How was that for the first chapter? See, I daydream a lot and this was one thing I could make into a story.
