Shooting stars and airplanes
He could pretend they were shooting stars. Loosely based on the song by B.o.B ft Hayley Williams 'Airplanes'.
This is set in the past present and the future.
How could he be apart of her life when he wasn't even sure where his life was going. The son of a death eater and Voldermort's right hand wizard had left a deep and disfiguring mark upon him. He would spend moments alone after the fight knowing he shouldn't hope for anything to change for him.
For years he had made her life a living hell because it was expected of him and for a time he enjoyed it because his father looked at him with pride.
But after the war and the arrest of his father he had yearned for something more then his father's pride because it was no longer the thing he wished for.
When he found her wishing on shooting stars he wanted to mock her not because he wanted to hurt but because it was something he knew well. But he couldn't force it from himself because she was wishing on some force that might never hear her.
He didn't mean to tell her that night he used to wish all the time as a kid for his father to love him and stop pushing him.
He didn't understand what she meant when she said that she used to pretend airplanes were shooting stars but he did understand the real reason for being out that night when she said she wished Ron would look at her like a girl.
She didn't answer him when he said that some wishes come true.
/
When she found him wishing on shooting stars he had apologised in an awkward manner for punching Ron because he had ruined Potter's wedding. She laughed and asked instead why he was wishing on stars.
She didn't understand when he told her that he wished he could be someone else because she admitted he hadn't turned out so bad.
He didn't answer her because he was wishing hard.
She asked him why he was looking so hard for shooting stars when she found him laying out on the blanket they had laid out for James on his third birthday. He wouldn't tell her that he really needed a wish right now because he wasn't sure it would come true other wise.
When she kissed him he didn't pretend not to understand that sometimes wishes did come true without stars.
/
"Can we pretend airplanes are shooting stars?" it had taken a few years but he was here laying under the stars being the man he could live with.
"They won't count" she tells him for the hundredth time laying in his arms.
"I really need a wish right now" he admits into her hair; soft hair that he used to mock.
"I'm not going anywhere; your stuck with me" she promises because she had no intention of letting her wish go.
"Daddy a shooting star" her honey coloured curls bounces in the moonlight and he won't be able to stop from grinning because his wishes will come true.
"No Lyra that's an airplane" he informs her because even though she will be the light of his life at five years old she still won't understand the differences just yet.
"Won't it count" she will ask and he can't stop the soft smile lighting his lips as he glances to his wife then looking back to his baby girl.
"Of course it will; you wish all you want" he tells her and means it because years ago his wishes came true even when he wished on airplanes.
Because when he needed a wish years ago he learnt some times that didn't come true and some times they did.
I was going to make this agnsty but then decided to make it a sweet one. if you haven't heard the song then you must.
