She was Winter, cold and unforgiving.
He was Summer, the only one who could melt her icy exterior. But he loved another. His Queen.
But she, she loved a human, one who couldn't or should never be a part of the world she was being dragged in with him. A human, of all things.
And he loved the Summer Queen, with everything he had; he'd even gone so far as to accept her relationship with the King, no matter how much it hurt him on the inside.
They say that true love conquers all. He was going to conquer this bridge- he wasn't going to be a human who would hinder her. Not now, not ever. And so, he ventured deeper into the world.
Where the balance provided by reason was upset. The Queen of that court found herself inexplicably drawn to this human, who would be human no more. And that was the mistake. That allowed War the footing she needed to see the bloodshed occur.
But, never forget, that Darkness always lurks in the corner, always apparent in the shadows, regardless of the Court you align yourself to. The Darkness once had a Queen of some sorts; she was tied to the Summer Queen and the King of the Dark Court once loved this human Queen, until his power became too much for her to handle and she wanted her life back.
But you can never receive your life back. No matter the Court, no matter the Monarch. Once touched by the Fey, always part of the Fey. They never leave your lives.
Keenan, the Summer King, tied to one, but in love with two. Aislinn, the Summer Queen- bound to her King, but in love with a human. Seth, the human who is not, the Summer Queen's love, but the Queen of Reason's son who is not and friend, brother of the new King of the Dark Court. The Dark Court's new King, friend with the human who is no longer wholly human, but no longer tied to his Summer King. The ex-Dark Queen, Leslie, once in love with the ex-Dark King, Irial, who stepped down to allow the new King, Niall, who still loves the ex-Dark Queen. She believes she can forget the Fey. You can never forget.
The Queen of the Court of Reason, interested in the human Seth who has ties to the other Three Courts. Lover of the Summer Queen, mutual friend of the Winter Queen and brother of the Dark King. She changes him, makes him a human who is not; a Faerie with equal chance at winning the Summer Queen back. And she, the Queen of Reason, like a mother to this human no more, has compromised her position as Queen. She no longer has adequate reason.
The stage is set, War ready to pounce.
What a tangled web we weave. One string leads to another and that to another. Be careful not to choke on the strings.
The fun's only just begun.

Whoo, so this was just a quick little drabble I thought up of on the spot….it's raw, unedited and yeah. I felt like focusing on the relationships of the Four Courts. I know it doesn't mention anything whatsoever about Radiant Shadows. I haven't had time to buy the book, so this is solely off of memory of the first three books (I've lent them out to various friends so I didn't have time to reference anything.) I realize I repeat some things, but I like the way this turned out.
