Prologue

Donnie Darko: Timeless Angel

Chapter One: Astral Line

Hello, this is my first fic about Donnie Darko, and I always thought of some things. What if Donnie's death was never meant to happen? What if there'd been someone who could have helped him out? What if he was part of something bigger than anyone could have predicted?

Well, in this my first fic (Which will be a crossover with Battlestar Galactica) I give answers to my questions! I hope it is to all of your likings and enjoy it.

Summary: Donnie's parents are divorced. Rose is living in another part of the town. An old acquaintance from Rose's college returns and stirs forgotten emotions. The Earth is beginning to act strange and Donnie and his new found friend have to save humanity for there to be a future.

The pain…the pain he'd felt was now gone and all around him there was only darkness. He felt as if he was floating in water as his body felt weightless. He liked this feeling…Never mind that he was dead. He liked it here.

"Donnie, wake up!" a sweet female voice called.

Donnie did not do as the voice had said.

"Come on Donnie! There isn't time for you to slack of!"

"I thought being dead meant I could do as I pleased?!" Donnie shouted finally opening his eye only to be met by those of an angel above him.

Long raven hair danced around her as if swaying with the wind. Her reddish-purple eyes looked down on him with warmth, while he hands where on his arms as if holding him still. "Hey," she whispered.

"Hey," Donnie whispered back. "I'm really in heaven aren't I?"

The young woman smiled, "Donnie Darko, you are not dead!"

"What?! But I—"

"Just before that piece of wood invaded itself in your body I pulled you into this real in time. The pain you felt was just a brief memory that never happened."

Slowly Donnie felt as they began to change position and now stood facing each other upright. But they were still floating. At the bottom he saw their images reflected in water. Above them a night sky with a round fat moon and stars shining like diamonds. Then hundreds of Oaks sprouted and filled the rest of the scene.

"Where am I?" Donnie asked.

"This is the Astral Line, Donnie. Where time and space are as neutral as you and I and the holders of its power and its knowledge," the young woman said.

Donnie did not comprehend what she was telling him. Just a few minutes ago he'd been dead, the next he is here in-wherever here is! For some reason he had the feeling he'd met this woman before. And as more time passed and she and he stared at each other the feeling grew.

"Have we met?"

"You and I have met many times in many lives, Donnie."

Donnie cocked his head, "How so?"

"Your ability to use time and understand its meaning its not just pure coincidence…"

"It isn't?"

She shook her head, "No."

Darko reached out to touch her hand. She willingly raised hers and met his. Their hand spread and then entwined. To Donnie, her skin was the softest he'd ever felt. There was an electric like energey beginning to form within their closed palm. "Wow!"

"Come Donnie, there is something you need to see."

Before he could answer a spherical ring appeared moving round and round until a tornado engulfed them. Then there was only silence filled the space they had been in.
