Julia has nightmares – Barbie is there to comfort her. Will she get over it?

Julia was running as fast as she could but couldn't seem to get closer to Barbie. He was running toward her as well with the same result. "I miss you." She whispered over & over again. Suddenly she began to whimper moving restlessly from side to side. Barbie was instantly awake & realized she was having a nightmare...the same nightmare she'd been having for the past few days.

He didn't want to shock her awake so he tried soothing her fears with soft words & gentle touches. She was too far gone in the clutches of those demons who would not be banished. Her voice grew louder as tears unbidden fell down her cheeks. "I miss you!" "Leave him alone." "Let him go." She was sobbing uncontrollably now & suddenly jerked up screaming.."BARBIE!"

She looked around frantically, seeing nothing, unable to catch her breath, still sobbing as if her heart would break. Barbie gathered her close. "Shh, Julia, I'm here. You're having a nightmare. I'm here baby, right here. Shh. It's OK." Gently he wiped her tears away, kissing their path down to her lips. He kept saying the same words over & over to her, hoping she could tear herself away from the darkness that was gripping her.

Slowly Julia came back to herself. She reached up to touch Barbie's face, then linked her arms around his neck. He could feel her relax against him, sobs hitching in her chest & finally felt her exhale that breath she'd been holding on to. "I'm sorry. I hate these nightmares. I hate reliving how much I missed you & how helpless I felt watching you being dragged away."

Barbie kissed her neck gently twining his fingers in her hair. "It's OK. I'm so sorry I caused you so much pain. I should have never tried to go down that tunnel. You have no idea how relieved I am to be back here with you. I'll never leave you alone again."

"Not your fault" Julia whispered. "But for now, I'm not letting you out of my sight." To emphasize her determination she pressed a fierce kiss to his lips. Barbie let her. He knew that aggression always followed her nightmares & needed an outlet. He was happy to oblige. Soon her mouth softened, exchanging aggression for passion, thrilling to the feel of Barbie's lips. Pulling away slightly she murmured. "You, Mr. Barbara, are the only one who can keep me sane in all this madness. But I don't think I'll be able to sleep anymore tonight. What time is it anyway?"

Lifting his watch off the nightstand, Barbie groaned. "3AM. I'm wide awake too. Let's go down & see what kind of snack we can rustle up. I seem to remember some ice cream in your freezer. Be a shame to let it go to waste"

"Sounds good" Julia whispered. She reached down to grab something to throw on & came up with an old denim shirt – worn soft & smooth. It was Barbie's & as she slipped it on, she felt just a little bit safer. Barbie reached for her hand as he led her from their bedroom. His hand was hard & calloused, his grip carefully gentle. She felt safer yet. Once again he had slain another dragon for her & for tonight & today, she felt it would be OK & that the days & nights would even out for her. With this man at her side, anything was possible.
