AN: This is a drabble written for the prompt on tumblr: without. I had a ton of fun writing Ten, so enjoy.
Disclaimer: I don't own Doctor Who. It belongs to BBC.
"Rose!"
She didn't want to get up, not yet. Her bed was so cozy, and she snuggled into it to block out the familiar voice. Maybe if she just ignored it, it'd go away…
"Come on Rose! I've been waiting so patiently. I even waited a full hour after you said I could wake you up. See," she could briefly hear the sound of plastic falling over and clanking against metal and wood, "your clock says 8:03 p.m., which is an hour and now three minutes after when I'm allowed to disturb you. Oh, and sorry about your lamp. I'll fix it. I'll even add this setting where it'll change colors. Oh, and maybe I can attach it to your clock, so it'll turn on the lamp at seven, so I don't have to wake you up. Nah, I like waking you up because then I get to see you a full five minutes earlier than if the clock-lamp…thing did. But I'll do that later, and it's already past seven, so you've gotta wake up Rose!"
"I don't wanna…"
"But Rose," he whined, and even in her sleepy daze, she could picture his big, round eyes and puffy, pouty lip at full force. Maybe she could just nip at that bottom lip just a bit…
"Please Rose!" He made sure to shake her a bit. "I need you."
And she was up.
"Wha's the matter? Are ya okay? Is Mum okay?" She brushed past him quickly and practically leaped to her closet. There were trinkets all over the floor, and she did not want to stab her foot this early in the morning.
"No, Rose, everyone's fine. I'm fine. Jackie's fine. At least I think she is. Didn't really check. She's a bit loud sometimes. And her slap… Well, other than the usual, I'm sure your mum is great."
He received a glare for that comment. Realizing he made some sort of mistake somewhere, his hand flew to the back of his neck and he tried to amend his statement.
"Not that your mum isn't always great because she is. Of course, everyone has their bad days-"
"'m gonna stop ya right there Doctor. What I really wanna know is why ya need me and so early in the mornin'." Her hands were on her hips and she rose one eyebrow in question.
"Oh, it's just, well, you were asleep for 12 hours, which is far more than any normal human needs, but you aren't any normal human, are you Rose Tyler?" He grinned at her and rocked back on his heels.
"That still doesn't answer my question Doctor."
"Doesn't it? Well, you see, I guess, in not so many words, I missed you." His hand was on his neck again, but it seemed to be creeping its way into his luscious hair.
"Ya missed me?" Her eyebrow rose even higher, but a smirk was slowly growing on her face.
For a moment it looked like he was going to deny it or make some excuse like he always did, but then he looked up at her disappointed expression and thought better of it.
"Rose, it's just so hard to be without you, and after last night, with you getting stuck in that cell with all those perverts," his eyes narrowed at the memory, "I just needed to make sure you were alright."
"Oh Doctor," she whispered. Leaping back over her floor, she made her way to him and enveloped him in a hug. "It's hard to be without you, too."
"Really?"
"Yeah. I was terrified in that jail. But you know what? I had hope because I knew you would come and save me. I always will believe in you Doctor. Always and completely."
A happy sigh escaped him as he squeezed her tighter. He buried his face in her swirling locks and smiled. He believed in her, too.
