"It's a new year, Dean," Sam said looking at his watch. Dean stepped into the run down house and looked over his shoulder at his brother.
"Another year to shoot these damn ghosts," he grinned as he pumped his shotgun.
"It's a new year Gus!" Shawn shouted. He and Gus were each sitting in a lawn chair outside the Psych office. Shawn watched as the fireworks boomed into the Santa Barbara sky. He looked over at Gus and saw he was asleep. "Come on dude! It's a new year!" He started punching Gus until he woke up.
"Go back to sleep Shawn," he muttered groggily.
"It's a new year, Kate," Castle said, smiling sleepily.
"Yeah it is, isn't it?" She turned over and kissed him on the nose.
Castle sat up in bed. "More books to write."
"More nights to spend together," Kate said with a wink.
"More nights to put up with your snoring," he grinned.
Kate was about to retort when her phone buzzed. Looking at the text message she sighed and started to get out of bed. "More murders too."
"It's a new year, Oliver."
Oliver Queen looked at Felicity and dropped down from the solomon's ladder. Sweat ran down his body, and he was breathing hard.
"Do you ever take a break from all of… this?" Felicity looked around at their headquarters.
Oliver smiled as he wiped his chest off with a towel. "You spend a lot of time with me, do I?"
Felicity frowned. "I mean, do you ever want to? Don't you get tired of it all?"
Oliver shrugged slightly. "Maybe sometimes." He grabbed a bottle of wine from a shelf, and two glasses. He poured a glass and handed it to Felicity. After pouring his he raised it. "Cheers."
Felicity held up her glass. "Cheers."
"It's a new year Chewie," Han Solo said as he leaned back in his chair. Chewbacca growled something from his corner and Han nodded in agreement. The Millennium Falcon cruised lazily into Tatooine's atmosphere.
"More debts to pay," Han muttered to himself as he stared down at the desert planet. Jabba still hadn't forgot what he owed.
Chewbacca heard what Han muttered and growled something else.
"More booze to drink?" Han repeated what Chewbacca had said. He smiled, putting Jabba the Hutt's threats out of his mind. "That's the spirit. I knew I kept you around here for something."
"It's a new year, mister Frodo," Sam said as the two hobbits trudged on closer to Mordor.
Frodo paused and looked at his companion. They both were breathing hard. Dirt and bruises covered their feet and legs. It had been a long journey, a hard journey. Frodo missed the other members of the Fellowship. He really missed the Shire. But through everything Sam had been there for him. Frodo smiled, despite the ring's burden on his heart. "So it is Sam."
Happy New Years!
