Cigarettes, blood, explosions / Boom Boom Bye

The explosions were growing in number. She saw less and less of her comrades, all of them were being wiped by the wave of enemies that alarmingly surpassed them.

She barely caught a glimpse of the bomb reaching the floor before she felt how her body was being thrown by the force of the explosion. It took her a moment to regain consciousness; a buzzing inside her ears blocked every sound from the exterior. Her vision was blurry and the suit emitted the low energy alarm.

With a lot of effort she managed to get on her feet. She felt strange, as if her body didn't belong to her. Once she was up she paid attention to her surroundings, she was encircled by debris and shapeless pieces of a red matter. The turn in her stomach took her by surprise when she realized that it was human flesh. Her memory traveled as fast as light to discover who was fighting along her in this assured defeat.

The sound of a lighter brought the memory to her mind, as if someone had just hit her. She didn't even notice the moment when she had regained her hearing.

"Snake!" She couldn't see him. Her vision was just getting better and the crack in her visor wasn't helping. A cloud of smoke rose over some of the wreckage produced by the explosion, she would better investigate it. When she tried to take a step she felt some pain and her foot couldn't support her weight, making her fall. She looked at her legs and noticed her ankle was in an unnatural angle. She took a deep breath and resigned herself to what she was about to do. With a snap the foot went to its usual position releasing a wave of pain that didn't manage to distract her from finding her comrade in arms. She hurried, time was gold; she found him a little farther, partially covered by rubble. If it weren't for the movement he made with his hand to remove the cigarette from his lips, she wouldn't have seen him.

He inhaled one more time and looked at the cigarette as if he were looking at a great treasure for the last time. Samus realized a little later that there was something strange about her companion: the place where his legs should have been was occupied by a lake of blood that kept sprouting from the charred flesh that was still attached to his body.

"Snake!" The anguish that the huntress felt was strongly countered by the calmness her comrade was showing while he slowly exhaled the smoke form his lungs.

"You're still here?" He inhaled again watching the state his companion was in. "Look, little one, you should leave as soon as possible. There's a bomb set somewhere around here that will destroy many of those fuckers. So, if I were you, I would run from this place."

"I can carry you. We can get out of this together."

"Don't kid yourself, you wouldn't have the time. Besides, I like explosions."

The mercenary had that smug satisfaction look in his face that comes from knowing that your death will also end with the death of the one that caused it. Samus felt the tears gather in her eyes, but kept her voice under control.

"See you later."

"In hell, baby."

She hated that nickname. She hated when Snake called her that, but this time she let it go as she ran with all her might, letting the tears fall, fall like many of her other comrades -or what was left of them- that were being annihilated by a huge explosion.

No supe bien a bien cómo traducir compañeros pero creo que entre comrade y companion no quedó tan mal. Por cierto, acabo de caer en la cuenta de que nadie me revisa mis traducciones D:
