"Okay, that's the bell ringing, now you can leave and don't forget to read the remaining two chapters", said Ms. Bustier.
Everyone nodded as they left the classroom, the school was over for the day. It was a cloudy day and the weather station had forecasted that there was likely to be a thunderstorm. Adrien was walking out of the classroom when he got a call from Nathalie who informed him that Gorilla would be coming late. Sighing, he stood just outside the entrance to Collège Françoise Dupont. After some time everyone had gone home, he was now all alone and it had started what he should do, he decided to walk to the park and then give Gorilla a call. He started climbing down the stairs.
"Hey Kid, aren't you going to wait, it's pouring cats and dog, surely you don't want to catch a cold", said Plagg.
"First, she didn't come after lunch and now Gorilla is taking a long time today, so I am just going to walk up to the park and then…", said Adrien.
"But not without with this", said a girl standing behind him. Adrien turned behind to see Marinette offering to lend her umbrella. The two stared at each other as green met blue. There was lightning. He got lost in her heaven blue eyes for what seemed moments, he then snapped back to reality as he heard a clap of thunder.
"What happened? Experienced a deja-vu? Remember last time when you lent your umbrella to me", said Marinette.
"Yeah, I remember, from then onwards you stopped hating me", said Adrien.
"What's with you? The past is in the past", said Marinette.
"Where were you in the afternoon ?" he asked her angrily.
"You know, the usual, duty calls", she said.
"There was an Akuma ?" He asked.
"No, remember, Ladybug was supposed to go to the airport to make sure that no harm comes to Prince Ali, he leaves for Spain today", Marinette said.
"Right, you left to guard Prince Ali and forgot about me, your actual Prince", said Adrien.
"Come on, don't be so silly kitty", said Marinette.
"But purrincess, I missed seeing you today", said Adrien "and", he went on continuing, "Prince Ali's flight was hours ago, you should have been back for the last class", he finished.
"Oh ! I had a secret mission after that", said Marinette.
"What secret mission ?", asked Adrien.
"Oh Kitty, do you think it'll be a secret if I told you", said Marinette with a wink.
Adrien walked up to and gave her cuddle.
After breaking the cuddle, Marinette teasingly said, "You're hopeless, were you that keen to see me?"
"I am not just keen, I am always desperate to see you M'Lady", Adrien said with his Chat grin.
"I think I still have to get used to seeing Chat's grin on your face", said Marinette.
"I am so glad I realized it was you", said Adrien.
Five Days Ago…Sunday afternoon
"Sometimes, I can't help but think that my bff, is such a cute girl, especially with her blue-night hair and heaven like blue eyes…., and that's just a physical attribute, she always
helps everyone, just like Ladybug", said Alya.
"Blue-night hair and blue eyes", said Nino, "Funny, that sound familiar", he said further.
"Yeah it does, btw Nino I am sorry, let's talk about that date we were planning to do next week", said Alya.
"Now that's more like it", said Nino, "Bye dude", said Nino, to Adrien as he and Alya went away.
Adrien was about to leave when he realized something, "OH MY GOD, blue-night, heaven blue, his Lady"…..
LADYBUG IS….
Two Hours Later…..Agreste Mansion
"Is not Mireille", said Adrien
"Plagg, Ladybug is not Mireille, how could I be so stupid !", he further said.
"What makes you say she is not Ladybug ?", asked Plagg.
"Well, firstly, she does not have heaven like blue eyes and secondly Alya's theory about Ladybug putting contacts before an Akuma attack seems so bizarre", said Adrien
"No offense kid, but I am getting really bored about your Love Bug, I bet you are getting bored as well", said Plagg
"She is my Lady Plagg, I'd never get bored of her, I could never even think about her getting bored", said Adrien.
"What a love-sick boy", mumbled Plagg.
Later that Night….At The Eiffel Tower
"So LB, how's everything going ?", asked Chat Noir. The duo had just finished patrolling.
"Fine, what about you ?", she asked.
"Purrfect", said Chat. Well not purrfect in every sense though!
They sat down, looking down at the streets of Paris, the city was lit up, so bright, so colorful, so lively.
"So just asking M'Lady, have you ever saved anyone from a speeding car ?", asked Chat.
"Of course, silly kitty, and I haven't done it alone, we both have saved many people from a speeding car during an Akuma attack", said Ladybug.
"No, what I meant was that have you ever saved anyone, like without me around", said Chat.
"Yeah, I have, not from a speeding car though", said Ladybug nonchalantly.
"Okay…M'Lady, excuse me but I am going to have to go home early, got loads of homework", said Chat.
"See you around mon Chaton", said Ladybug as Chat Noir jumped from rooftop to rooftop with his staff.
Midnight…..Agreste Mansion
"See Plagg, I knew it, Marinette was lying about Ladybug saving her from a speeding car", said Adrien, "So, how did she know Ladybug was 5000 years old ?", asked Adrien.
"Kid, firstly, I don't know why Marinette lied, secondly, Ladybug is not 5000 years old, its Tikki, she is 5000 years old, just like me, we kwamis are the eternal ones", said Plagg. This lad is so oblivious…
"Yeah, I know, wait, who is Tikki ?", asked Adrien.
"She's Ladybug's kwami, I've known her for centuries", said Plagg.
"I'm desperate Plagg, I want to know who she is, it's driving me insane, I knew for a fact that Marinette was lying about Ladybug saving her….But why ?", asked Adrien.
"Could it be that Alya's first theory was correct. Marinette is helping Ladybug keep her identity a secret, but I am absolutely sure that Ladybug is not Mireille", continued Adrien.
"Look, Kid, can we go to sleep", said Plagg yawning, "You can go around playing detective and discover clues to Ladybug's identity tomorrow", said Plagg.
"No Plagg, I feel as if though I am close to knowing who Ladybug is, if only I could know why Marinette lied about Ladybug saving her", said Adrien.
The Next Day….Monday morning…Collège Françoise Dupont
"Hi Marinette", said Adrien.
"Hi Adrien, you today hi, I mean how are you today?", she asked nervously.
"Pretty good, hey there's something I wanted to ask you", said Adrien.
"Sure shoot…", said Marinette.
"How was your experience when Ladybug saved you and was Chat Noir around?" asked Adrien.
"My experience? Well I mean, it's obvious that I would have the same experience as anybody would when they are saved by Ladybug….and yeah Chat was there too, he's great", said Marinette
Just then the bell rang and Marinette climbed the stairs to the classroom, while Adrien remained behind.
Now it's evident she was lying, Chat…I wasn't there. But why? Why would Marinette lie, she's otherwise an honest, sweet, caring, smart and helpful girl. She wouldn't unless….something definitely is up.
Evening….Agreste Mansion
"Oh so Marinette's been lying to you", said Plagg.
"Yes she has, but she's an honest, helpful and smart girl. She wouldn't lie like this. Something's definitely up", said Adrien. After thinking for a while, he lifted his head up and said, "Of course, I have been double stupid, first for thinking that Ladybug wears contacts and second for thinking that Marinette is a liar, Marinette is the same caring person I know, in fact, she is so helpful, she's helping Ladybug keep her identity a secret. So Alya's theory is confirmed, Marinette is helping Ladybug. She knows who Ladybug is. But I am not going to say anything about this to Alya or Nino. In fact, I'll confront Marinette, about this tomorrow", said Adrien.
"What if she refuses, you can't really force anything out of her", said Plagg.
"Yeah you're right, but this is the only chance to getting to know who Ladybug is", said Adrien.
"Face it kid, you're really desperate", said Plagg.
'Yes, I am, if this doesn't work out, then I am just going to reveal myself to her", said Adrien.
"What happened to respecting her wishes and following your heart", said Plagg
"You're right, I should probably stop doing whatever I am doing, Ladybug's wishes are more important and I value our trust and credence above anything else", said Adrien, "But one thing's for sure, Ladybug is not Mireille", said Adrien.
"Plagg I have one more theory, but it almost sounds impossible. I just want to confirm something, after that, I'll stop doing whatever I am doing", said Adrien.
"What theory ?", said Plagg.
"I'll tell you tomorrow", said Adrien.
Tuesday…noon…Dupain-Cheng Bakery
"You want to buy croissants dude ?", asked Nino
"Yes, and the Dupain-Cheng bakery is the best place to do so", said Adrien as they entered the bakery Well that's not the actual reason...
"Good day boys, what can I do for you", said Sabine
"We would like a small bag of croissants mam", said Adrien.
"Sure", said Sabine as Tom came downstairs.
"Sabine, the bakery will be closed for the evening today", he said
"Oh, sorry boys, I didn't see you here", said Tom
"That's okay, today evening there's going to be a small party in the KIDZ+ building, we both are going with Alya and Marinette", said Nino.
"Well, Marinette will be going, we are already done with all the work in the bakery for today", said Tom.
"That's good", said Nino as Sabine handed the bag of croissants to Nino.
Adrien and Nino exited from the bakery. Marinette is coming today evening after all! Maybe it is impossible after all!
Tuesday afternoon…..4 pm…..Collège Françoise Dupont
"Oh come on Alya, be reasonable, if my parents need help, then I have to help them", said Marinette.
"But then that means, that you wouldn't be able to come today evening", said Alya.
"That's alright, there's always a next time", said Marinette.
"That's funny", said Nino.
"What is ?" asked Marinette.
"Adrien and I went to the bakery today during the lunch break to buy some croissants, and we asked your parents if you're coming today evening, and they said you could go because they already finished all the work and the bakery will be closed this evening", said Nino.
Marinette laughed.
"Why are you laughing? ", asked Adrien
"Nino, when I say I have to help my parents, it doesn't mean always mean in the bakery, I have to help them
with other stuff as well, such as cleaning and preparing some chocolate chips for tomorrow, because there's a special sale on chocolate chips tomorrow, besides feeling that they needed help for that purpose, I offered to help them, a few moments after you left", said Marinette. ( Why did those two have to go to the bakery today of all days ! )
"Alright girl, you can stay at home but I am going to tell you the news tomorrow and you better be interested", said Alya.
"Alya, the news spells L-A-D-Y-B-U-G, who wouldn't be interested ?", said Marinette waving her hand as she headed towards the bakery.
"Too bad, Marinette always misses the moments when Ladybug is around, well it's not really her fault", said Alya.
"What did you just say ?", said Adrien.
"Where's your mind wandering off to….Agreste…..I just said too bad that Marinette always misses Ladybug in action", said Alya.
"Always", said Adrien.
Agreste Mansion…..An hour later
"Plagg, I've been triple stupid, first for thinking that Ladybug wears contacts and second for thinking that Marinette is a liar, Marinette is the same caring person I know,..", he was cut off Plagg.
"I heard that already and maybe third is that she is Mireille after all", said Plagg sarcastically.
"She is not Mireille", said Adrien.
"Look, kid, I mean it, I am getting tired about this LoveBug identity", said Plagg
"Plagg!…..thirdly for not realizing that Ladybug is…..", said Adrien as he was cut off by a knock on his bedroom door.
Plagg hid as Nathalie entered.
"Two friends named Alya and Nino are here to go with you to the KIDZ+ building. Remember to be back by 7:30 pm", said Nathalie.
"Yes, thanks Nathalie", said Adrien.
KIDZ+ Buliding….Before the akuma attack
"I was right, Plagg, Ladybug isn't Mireille", said Adrien.
"Yeah well, whatever, are you going to give me my camembert or are you going to transform…?", he asked.
"Its the latter", said Adrien, "Plagg, CLAWS OUT"…
After the akuma attack…..an empty room in KIDZ+ studio
They walked inside the station, while Alya and Nino were distracted in a conversation with the akkumatised victim.
As soon as they entered, Chat took Ladybug's hand by surprise and the duo went into an empty room.
"Chat, what are you doing ?", asked Ladybug as she felt her heart beat faster and faster as Chat came towards her.
"Ladybug, I know who you are…" said Chat.
"What !", Ladybug said as she stood in disbelief.
"I know you're not Mireille", he said further.
"No , I am not", said Ladybug.
"I am going to reveal my identity, M'Lady, I can't hold it back anymore, I've waited so long…", said Chat..
"What are you doing…", Ladybug was about to say something further when…..
"Plagg CLAWS OUT", said Chat….
A bright green light filled the small empty room they were in…
When Ladybug opened her eyes, she saw that Chat Noir was no longer in front of her, but rather someone familiar, someone she knew…..
It was none other than Adrien Agreste who stood in front of her.
"I know that you are Marinette, I just realised today", said Adrien.
He went on further, "It took me so long to figure out", said Adrien as he explained to her the process.
"After figuring that you, Marinette, lied about Ladybug saving yourself, I asked Ladybug a couple of questions, then the next day I asked you how it felt to be rescued by Ladybug, then I thought there might be a possibility that you could be Ladybug. I then confirmed that you were coming to the event by going to your parents' bakery to enquire myself. For a brief moment, I thought that you weren't Ladybug. Then when you made up an excuse to Alya about not coming, I realised that I had been so stupid. You weren't helping Ladybug, you weren't her bfff or whatever, you didn't get saved by her, you are Ladybug," said Adrien finishing his long story.
"I know you're disappointed it's me, I never meant to find out, please don't be angry with me, I love you,"said Adrien. Oops, the last part slipped out accidentally!
Much to his amazement, Ladybug started laughing so heartily. Wow, she looks so beautiful when she laughs….
"Adrien Agreste, you really are a dork", said Ladybug.
"You see, I had my suspicions too", she said.
"What?", said Adrien as he blinked in amazement.
"Firstly when you as Chat asked me if I had ever saved anyone from a speeding car, I found that question odd because that's the same thing that I had said to Alya, Nino and of course to you, Adrien, earlier that day. Then the next day when you asked me, (Marinette), how it felt to be rescued by Ladybug, my suspicions doubled, later after Nino mentioned about you both going to my parents' bakery, my theory was confirmed, I realised that you are indeed Chat Noir", said Ladybug.
"Clever as usual, bugaboo", said Adrien.
"And I am not disappointed, I've had a crush on you since the second day of school last year. In fact you should be disappointed that the amazing, miraculous Ladybug is just me, plain Marinette", said Ladybug.
"Plain? You're the most talented girl in our class, you are kind, helpful, smart and beautiful. I would never be disappointed you. You mean everything to me, I love you", said Adrien.
"Me too", said Ladybug, "I was so happy on finding out that you are Chat Noir", she said further.
"Well, I hope you're happy Adrien, Marinette is really cute", said Plagg who was listening to everything with least interest.
"Plagg, you can't call her that, only I get to call her that", said Adrien as Ladybug blushed.
"Well Kids, when you both are finished with your lovely dovey stuff, please notice that someone's coming this way", said Plagg as they heard footsteps. Ladybug motioned Adrien to transform.
"Ladybug, Chat Noir ?", said Alya as she opened the door.
"Sorry Alya, we've got to go now", said Ladybug as she Chat Noir left the room and exited the building.
Back To Present….
"Oh Kitty, do you think it'll be a secret if I told you", said Marinette with a wink.
Adrien walked upto and gave her cuddle.
After breaking the cuddle, Marinette teasingly said, "You're hopeless, were you that keen to see me?"
"I am not just keen, I am always desperate to see you M'Lady", Adrien said with his Chat grin.
"I think I still have to get used to seeing Chat's grin on your face", said Marinette.
"I am so glad I realised it was you", said Adrien.
"But what was your secret mission about?", said Adrien.
"Nothing", said Marinette.
"You have to tell me", said Adrien.
"Okay, okay fine, this was supposed to be a surprise for your birthday which is next week, but here you go", said Marinette giving him a small black box.
Opening the box, Adrien found a onyx pendant. There was a small photo of him and his mother inside.
"This is the best present ever, thanks Marinette", said Adrien.
Marinette implanted a small kiss on Adrien's cheek as they hugged under the umbrella.
In the background lightning striked again.
"Wait, how did you get this picture", asked Adrien.
"I happened to take your phone by chance, again, the rest you know", said Marinette.
"Wow, M'Lady you do have a talent for stealing other people's phones", said Adrien.
Marinette giggled. "Are you mad or angry?", she asked him.
"Of course not", said Adrien.
They leaned in for a gentle kiss but just then Gorilla arrived. Plagg quickly hid himself.
Oh great! Another interruption! Adrien sighed.
"Seems that we get interrupted every time. See you tomorrow", said Marinette winking as she went back to bakery.
Adrien smiled back as he went to his car.
The thunder rumbled once more...
Author's Note -
This was the third and final part after 'Her Identity' and 'Confirmation'. Credence is a synonym for trust, belief, etc., so I decided to name it as "Credence".
I was going to take a hiatus till 15th March, but then I had already finished this story, so I decided to publish it anyways.
Last time, I was told that I made too many punctuation errors. In order to avoid this and other mistakes, I have read through it four times and I have taken care of every minute detail as far as possible. Still, if there's any error please do tell me in the reviews. Please feel free to review, I don't mind criticism : )
I try my best to improve every time and want to be able to live up to the expectations : )
I hope you enjoyed the final part. To be honest, I never had any intention of writing a sequel to Her Identity, but my friend AmericanDemiGod encouraged me to do so, so a special thanks to her.
