Prologue
Columbia's eyes misted over as she clutched the warm bundle in her arms. Her heart breaking at the thought of letting go. Shaking she looked up to see Frank closing in. The expression on his face was pale and solemn. There were obvious signs that he was fighting back tears as well. The yellow blanket began to squirm. Carefully Columbia pulled back a corner of the plush material the covered little cassandra's face. A small sigh escaped her peachy mouth, as she snuggled into her mothers arms . Columbia began sobbing " I cant do it... I just cant. Please Frank there has gotta be another way.". He stayed silent for a second staring down at Cassandra and then back at Columbia. "there isnt." he whispered retrieving the baby from her grip. A tear rolled down his cheek as he gently kissed the tiny forehead. she wiggled again then gave a sleepy smiled. " Its too big of a risk to keep her here. The FBI has already been informed of us... of her. god knows what they would do.". rrrrrRRRRRRRRRR. the cogs and gears whirled furiously. The moment had arrived. With heavy hearts Frank & Columbia said their final goodbyes before lowering their baby girl into the black bassinet. Frank knelt down " Be Safe little princess. Mummy & Daddy love you.". Columbia kneeled down next to him and rested her head on his shoulder. The little ragamuffin family fell silent. The clock chimed 12 times. Frank clutched Columbia's hand helping her rise with him" Its time.". slowly he pulled the side lever opening the Sonic Transducer's portal. In a matter of seconds the precious cargo was gone.
