As Inuyasha, Nekomata, and the others walked down a long, endless path, the skies became gray, and water droplets softly fell from the sky.
Nekomata, like a cat, did'nt like water.
"Inuyasha, it's starting to rain..." Nekomata stammered, starting to get nervous.
"Oh come on Nekomata! Are you a woman or a cat!?" Inuyasha huffed.
"... Actually I'm both." Nekomata sighed.
Inuyasha paused, knowing she was right.
"W-Well.. You need to calm down! It's barely raining, more like a weak drizzle!" Inuyasha grumbled.
Nekomata's face flushed from embarrassment.
"Inuyasha sit!" Kagome yelled, as Inuyasha's face was slammed into the ground.
The rain started to get heavier.
"It's really starting to rain now.. We best find some shelter." Miroku mentioned. Everyone nodded and started to run off.
"Hey! Don't you leave me here, traitors--!" Inuyasha started yelling, but Nekomata was at his side, helping him up.
The only one who did'nt ditch him.. And she was the one who disliked rain.
"... Thanks." Inuyasha simply said as he took off, running forward. After a few moments, Nekomata followed him from behind.
. . .
As Nekomata walked through the little door into the hut Miroku and Sango found, she was drenched.. As she sat in front of the fire, shivering.
Inuyasha, as he sat at the east side of the room, watched her from the corner of his eye.
"I'm glad we found this hut.." Sango said.
Everyone except Nekomata nodded. She was looking at the fire, seeming like she was in a trance.
"I think it's time we rest.." Miroku said as he walked to the back of the room, and leaned against the wall, sitting up while going to sleep. Sango and Kagome went in the northwest section of the room and layed down, Kilala cuddling with Sango, and Shippo cuddling in Kagome's arms.
Inuyasha stayed where he was.. Watching Nekomata from behind.
Nekomata hugged herself, still shivering.
. . .
About 45 minutes later, everyone was asleep, and Inuyasha was on the verge of falling asleep himself, until he heard something.
"Achoo!"
He opened one eye to see Nekomata shifting, most likely rubbing her nose.
"Achoo!" Nekomata flinched.
Inuyasha paused, then sighed, taking off the top half of his kimono.
"Achoo!!" Nekomata flinched again, as Inuyasha placed the kimono over her shoulders.
"Put this on.. Let's hope you don't catch a cold now." Inuyasha mumbled, sitting next to her.
Nekomata looked over at him. She looked totally miserable.
"Inuyasha-- Achoo!" She sneezed again.
"Sigh.. Guess we're too late, you already caught one." Inuyasha sighed.
Nekomata quickly shook her head.
"No, I think a speck of dust just went up my nose or something.. Or maybe I'm allergic to something around he--"
"Don't be ridiculous Nekomata, we both know you're sick." Inuyasha interrupted, placing his hand on her forehead, feeling for a fever.
Nekomata stayed silent, as a blush creeped onto her cheeks.
Inuyasha removed his hand from her forehead, then placed it on his own.
"Well your forehead is'nt warm.. So I guess you don't have a fever.. That's good. You really should'nt of been the last one to get here.."
Nekomata smiled as she closed her eyes and leaned her head on his shoulder.
"Thank you Inuyasha.. For looking after me like that.." Nekomata said.
Inuyasha felt a slight blush creep on his cheeks.
"Eh.. Now that I think about it, you're starting to get warm." Inuyasha said nervously.
Nekomata did'nt respond.. Maybe she was asleep already. Inuyasha scratched his head with his free arm, still blushing.
"I guess I don't mind just for this night.. Since you're sick and all." Inuyasha said.
Nekomata cuddled closer to him.
"Thank you.." She whispered, sounding as she was almost asleep.
"Goodnight, sleep well." Inuyasha smiled down at her, leaning his head down on hers as he soon drifted off to sleep.
But what Inuyasha and Nekomata did'nt know was that Miroku, Sango, Kagome, Shippo, and Kilala all had one eye open, peeking in on their moment.
