Chapter 1:

Sydney lay with her back against the radiator, reflecting on the downfall of SD-6 and of course her passionate kiss with Vaughn. She had an hour to waste before a trip to Peru for field training. Packed and ready to go she found herself wondering what Vaughn was doing. Of course he was going on the field trip as well but he had not yet packed.

At twelve thirty she was to be picked up for the flight. All of the agents were going on separate planes and hers was the last. She was due to arrive at Lima at 02:50. With the flight traffic she was 2 hours late.

The center was across twenty miles of beaten track. Sydney who hadn't slept since the downfall of SD-6 was exhausted. After a 6-hour trip Sydney was in no mood to talk.

The following morning the task was announced. They were to be left one hundred miles north of the camp and make there way south together.

It meant that 12 agents would be working in close quarters with each other and Sydney was given a tent to share with Vaughn.

Nothing was going to be enjoyable about this trip.

The first day in the wilderness was for them to set up a base camp and learn the objectives.

After an hour of walking disaster struck in the shape of Colin. He was an agent who was known to be reckless and in this case he certainly was. He was also extremely scared and little things spooked him.

It started when a rustle was heard in the northwest bushes, Colin being the wimp he was made a huge fuss and insisted on somebody checking it out. Another rustle and another by this time Colin was beside himself with fear and threw himself to the ground; grabbed his gun and began to fire upon the target. What he didn't realize was that it was a person behind the bushes and was in fact one of the agents who had been sent along too.

He starred with disbelief at the person he had just shot it was his best friend it was . . . . .
