Bruises, Welts, and Groans

Dean walked stiffly into the motel room, making a beeline for the bed. He eased himself down as gently as possible but still couldn't suppress a groan. A wave of nausea broke over him.
He knew his ribs were cracked. His torso and abdomen were covered in a variety of bruises and welts; he even had a large bruise in the area just above his right hip bone that was making walking difficult.
"Here, take these." Sam held out two white pills.
Dean hesitantly complied.
"Want help getting your coat off?"
"That's the only way it's gonna happen, I guess."
