This poem is similar to another one that I wrote entitled, "You Are," both of which, are of course, about Folken-sama.  I like this one better than "You Are"…but it's still not as good as some of my other ones.  Oh well.  **SPOILER WARNING**  It shows the three different stages of Folken's life; his life as a prince of Fanelia, his life in Zaibach, and his life after he defects from Zaibach (foreshadowing his death).  **END SPOILER**

Um… you can read this poem if you haven't seen all of Esca, but it will definitely make more sense if you've seen the whole thing^_^.  But it doesn't have any spoilers or anything^_^.

You…

~Part I~

You were

Picking flowers from these endless fields;

Everything was as beautiful as gorgeous,

Warmed by the very earth itself.

You were

Watching the sands of time tick away;

Everything was a precious memory,

Intangible yet real, like the rays of the sun.

You were

Standing in the rain as it fell to the ocean;

Everything existed in your dreams,

Just waiting to be released.

You were

Playing the song of the wind;

Everything bent to your fancy,

Everything bent to your whim.

You were

Changing the course of fate;

Everything worked for you good,

Giving your life a purpose.

How could anything go wrong?

~Part II~

Now you are

A mere flower in these endless fields;

Nothing but a pretty face,

Rejected by the world you hold so dear.

Now you are

A mere grain in the sands of time;

Nothing but a lonely memory,

The sun no longer shines on you.

Now you are

A mere drop of rain in the ocean;

Nothing but a washed away dream,

Washed away by tears.

Now you are

A mere note in the song of the wind;

Nothing but a passing fancy,

Given only a second of grace.

Now you are

A mere puppet in the hands of fate;

Nothing but a solitary slave,

Wasting your life away.

How did things go so wrong?

~Part III~

You will become

So many endless fields of flowers;

Some things are beautiful for a reason,

Even though the world cannot contain them all.

You will become

An hourglass to hold the sands of time;

Some things will always remain engraved in memory,

Illuminated forever by the light of the sun.

You will become

The mighty ocean waves;

Some things are best realized in dreams;

Those who are strong can realize them all.

You will become

The whistling song of the wind;

Some things should be shared with everyone,

Whether they are graceful or not.

You will become

The very hands of fate;

Some things have already been decided and cannot be changed,

Your life will not end in vain.

Maybe things will be alright after all.
