Prompt 071. A proposal takes place at the Burrow.
He had been planning it all month. The flowers, lights, the whole setting; it was perfect. Somehow he had even managed to keep his mouth shut about it, not even Harry knew what he had been up to. Ron had put on his best shirt (meaning the one Hermione liked most on him) and looked in the mirror, realizing his severe need for a pep talk.
I need to find Harry! Ron thought automatically and began rushing through the Burrow looking for his best friend.
Harry gave a panicky Ron an encouraging talk and sent him outside to the garden to wait for his queue. When Hermione arrived, Harry lead her to the garden on the side of the Weasley home and what she saw had her at a loss for words. It was only just sunset and the glow off the golden field was magical, surrounded by an array of flowers and butterflies, Hermione's gaze fell upon Ron. Smiling as she walked towards him, Ron swallowed hard but held onto his confidence and met her, holding her hands in his.
"Hermione, I'm glad you made it." Ron said, the nerves evident in his voice.
"Ron, this is magnificent!" She exclaimed looking around once more at all the flowers gleaming in the setting sun. "But what's it all for?" Ron drew in a shaking breath and looked her right in the eyes before he kissed her gently.
"I love you Hermione and the thing is," he started feeling the pit in his stomach growing larger and larger but his voice sounded much more confident than he had expected. Slowly Ron lowered himself to one knee and pulled his want out to summon a small black box. Looking up at one of his best friends in the whole world Ron couldn't help but smile and neither could a now blushing Hermione. Finally opening the box he said it, "Hermione Granger, will you marry me?"
