This is just a short little story...and when I say short I mean short.
My heart beat thumping in my chest like it's trying to break free of my rib cage. My lungs burning from exhaustion, my knees feel like there going to break down at any second. The ringing in my ears, causing my head to spin. My palms are sweaty and I feel the sweat running from my neck down my back.
I've been running all night through the halls and stairways looking for a place to hide. This hallway is dark and empty, a series of doors going along all leading to a room. I'm not sure which one to chose, I quickly turn to the left and pick closest door. It leads to a small empty room, a thin layer of dust covers every thing. There's an old fireplace in the back wall, although it has not been used in years the smell of smoke is still thick in the air. White sheets cover two over stuffed chairs on either side of the fireplace. An old burnt out lamp, which was once the only source of light in the room sits dead in the dark, the only light coming the open window with the shine of street lamps coming through. On the front wall there is an old bed, with all it's covers pulled off except for the bed skirt. I crawl under it hoping no one will find me under here. The feel of the cold hard wood floor presses into me, dust mites swirling around me.
I hear the repetitive beat of footsteps coming up the stairs, the person's walking heavily, if I didn't know better I would have thought that they were hurt. But I recognized the pattern and steady beat of the person's movement, which is now sounding off from down the hall.
The sound of doors being knocked out of their hinges explodes through the hall after every couple of steps. My heart beat races, my breath coming out in raged pants; I feel my hands curl into fists. A scream builds up in my throat, but I stay quiet not wanting to be found. They're right in front of the door now, I hear them trying to open the door but it's locked. My mind is panicking; they know I'm here. I feel the bile rising in my throat. The door crashes on the floor.
"Daddy's home!"
Well I hope reading this didn't take up to much of your day and wasn't a total waste, bye now. (Oh, and reviewing is nice to you know, if that's not to much to ask.)
