Broken

"Say it, Sasame."

"I love you. I love you above all else. I love you and only you."

"Again."

"

I'd willingly give up everything just to be with you."

"…that's enough. Now, get lost."

"If you say so, Takako."

The dark knight retreated back in the shadows where he now thinks he belongs. His Saihi was lost in her own world once again, ignoring the fact that Sasame has been watching her.

And she thought of him again.

Hayate…

Why did things turn out this way?

She did everything for him. Faster. Stronger. Better.

For him.

…yet…

…if only he wasn't so kind to her… if only he was more strict and uncaring… if only her didn't lead her on…

Why, Hayate? Why?

She would've started crying if she could. If only her heart wasn't as cold as it already was.

Sasame watched her silently, trying with all his might to resist the urge of walking towards Takako and holding her until she pushes him away again.

He never blamed her of anything. Because he clearly understood how it felt to love someone who doesn't love you back. To give everything and have nothing in return. To call out that person's name in the middle of the night and receive no reply…

Indeed, he knew exactly how it felt.

If only she had any idea how much he'd loved her…perhaps he even loved her more than she ever loved Hayate…

His love bore no grudge nor anger while her did.

His love was faithful while she was obviously using him to get to Hayate.

He would die just to let her live; she would kill Hayate just so could survive a world without any trace of Hayate at all.

"Sasame? Sasame, are you there?"

The knight shows up.

"I'm here."

She doesn't look at him. She just stares at the moon, her orbs getting more and more empty by the second.

"Say it, Sasame. You know you want to."

He kneels before her, eyes watching her with nothing but pure adoration.

"I love you, Takako. I've always had."

"More."

"I love you. I'll do anything and everything to make you happy."

"Go. Now."

Not even bothering to take a glance, she dismissed her servant.

She stared at the moon again, knowing fully well that allowing Sasame to tell her he loves her would ease both their pains once in a while.

Yes, Sasame's heart had always been true.

Broken, but true.
