I Will Pray

I awoke to find him missing. I knew immediately where he had gone. He had escaped his pain as best he could while still keeping his promise to me. He fled this world to partake in a journey that for him is about finding a place where he can rid himself of those painful scars and be at peace. I will pray that he finds that place. I will pray that he will always remember and keep the promise he made to me.

I am glad he has gone and I will pray that he has not gone alone. I will pray that the others are kind to him, though not as kind as I have been, for being as kind as I have been to him, I believe I have done him more harm. I will pray that he will be safe on his journey. I will pray that people will receive him warmly and that when they do not he has someone to protect him. I will pray that those around him will not let him get away with his deceitful smile. I pray that someone will take him by the hand and never let him go. I will pray that that person will help him learn to love again, learn to live again. I pray that that person will help him heal his wounds and help him to become whole again. I will pray that that person will make him keep the promise he made to me forever, that that person will ensure that he never takes his life to end his pain.

I will pray that he will cherish that person as well. I will pray that that person will become special to him and dear to his heart. I will pray that he will stand as one with that person and confront the dark shadows of his past. I will pray that he will learn to open up and share with that person honestly and that that person will do the same with him. I will pray as well that they will understand each other, even when they do not understand the words that they speak to one another. I will pray that he finds peace with that person. I will pray that he will learn from the scars he bears and not repeat the mistakes of his past. I will pray that they prevail together, he and that person, and that they will remain together forever as both friends and lovers. All this I will pray. All this I will gladly give my heart, my soul, my life for.
