It's like a movie.
The redness of the blood. The endless cries for help. The depth of the pain. The sharpness of the scalpels. The pungency of the disinfectant.
Or perhaps a dream.
The loneliness shared between those lost in this nightmarish place. The small, short-lived moments of happiness found in a friend's comforting arms. The bits and pieces of pleasure given and taken as we try to survive. To forget.
Someday this will end. That's what people say. If we keep telling ourselves that, maybe we'll eventually believe it.
