A/N: this has been sitting on my computer for a while and so I thought I would post it. It was written before the fourth book came out.

Goodbye

The small room was filled with the sounds of the ever present rain, the gentle rays of sun that shined through the layers of clouds drifted softly through the window, casting shadows into the room and warming the skin of the slim figure sitting in the little rocking chair, silently looking over the contense of her bedroom. As she slowly rocked back and forth the diamonds of the ring that rested on her finger glittered drawing her attention.

She looked down at her hand, moving it around to make it catch the light and sparkle. An electronic beep drew her attention back across the room towards the small digital clock beside the bed, the numbers glared out at her, taunting. She sighed and a silent tear fell unchecked down her face and onto the floor.

She got up and walked slowly around her room, her fingers running gently over each object. Memories flew through her mind. So many things had happened within these walls. So many things she was leaving behind. She hoped that she wouldn't forget anything.

Looking around once again she tried to burn it all into her mind. New tears joined the others on the floor. As Bella Swan took her last look around her room, no not Bella Swan anymore, she looked back at her hand to the gold band that now rested with the diamond ring. Not Bella Swan, Bella Cullen now.

She let her hand rest on the bed and turned towards the now open window and the man that stood beside it, a look of concern evident in his eyes. Swiftly, silently he crossed the room and pulled her into his cold, stony arms. "Bella" he whispered as he kissed the tears off of her face.

"Edward I'm alright" she assured him, a soft smile danced across her face and into her eyes. "Just saying goodbye."

With sad eyes she looked around the room once more, her eyes coming to rest on a picture of her father and her. The father she had told goodbye to the day before, he didn't know how final it really was. Staring at the picture she whispered once more "Goodbye".

With that she turned around and her eyes met the molten topaz eyes of her husband. Husband, she could grow used to that word. It wasn't as bad as she had thought it would be. Reaching up a hand she smoothed the lines that marred his perfect face. He calmed as he saw that she was in fact okay. Silently he lifted her into his arms and placed a soft kiss to her lips, before turning and jumping out the window into the gentle Forks rain. Bella took one last look back at her home. "Goodbye" she whispered before turning her head back towards Edward and towards her future.
