Chapter I: Confusions & Questions

Ally POV

I was running late for my next class; time was definitely not on my side. I just had to finish writing some lyrics didn't I? Guess they're right when they say old habits die hard.

Just when I thought I smelled victory I actually smelled the muddy dusty floor from the school grounds when I land face down on the ground.

"Uff" Damn. I know that voice. Cue to the unpleasant goosebumps.

What, no witnesses? what's this?

My books went flying across the hall, which lead me to hastily start picking up all my belonging while I desperately tried to apologize to the person I crashed into. Unfortunately for me my please went to deaf ears, and guess who got yell at?

At hearing the hysteric outburst from Brooke, I lifted my head only to internally flinched from the vicious look she sent my way.

I knew way to well what that look meant, and that was my signal to run as fast as lighting and to never look back.

Of course like all actions, consequences come along. It's a two go package. Accept it or leave it.

I made my decision to deal with them later.

"You're dead Ally Dawson!" I heard Brooke yell before I neared the corner at my left.

Oh I know. That is why I will make sure from now to have someone with me. Call me paranoid but just for security measures I think I'll write a letter to my parents and Trish telling them why I had to leave Earth sooner than I expected.

Hey! drastic situations lead to drastic measures.

Now that I can think clear, it's weird the stage of anger she was in. You see, I learned to decipher Brook's fury stages. I call them: 'The Furies strike'. Furies as in the greek mythological creatures. Since they are three evil sisters– like the three anger phases of Brook– that work for hades I figure they would be perfect to represent the moody problem that she has.

The first one is sarcastically Brooke, then there's annoyed and displeasure Brooke, and the worst. Total outrage dragon-spit-breath-fire deathly poisonous Brooke.

Thank goodness I've only had the misfortune of witnessing it once and that was enough for me. Let's just say that was the first time someone stand up to her.

Now usually she's bouncing from the first to the second state, but I'm telling you, I would never forget the coldness holocaust glare she threw my way. I swear that evil eye of her keep twitching with every passing second.

If your smart enough you'll know not to press luck. If I hadn't stepped out of her way who knows what would of have happen.

Ugh.

I shudder in distaste thinking about the 'what if's'.

The bell rang announcing that it was time for lunch.

Huh. It seems that I space out way too long. Well there goes my perfect assistance.

"Ally!"

Alarmed, I glanced to my right thinking Brooke had found me and I prepared to run once again, but then I caught a glimpse of Trish's unruly raven hair.

I sigh in relief when she reach me at the entrance of the cafeteria.

"Hey are you okay? You look a little pale" she said sounding worry.

"Yeah don't worry. I just had a little encounter with the she who shall not be name"

"And it's not even one in the morning" We laughed at her comment while walking towards the line to get food.

"What did she wanted anyway?"

"This time she didn't even had to found me. I willingly walked right towards her, literally" I said frowning remembering my stupidity.

Trish gave me a confused look so I elaborated explaining further the events that took place minutes ago.

"I'm telling you Trish, she was furious as hell."

I glanced to my right and left making sure that no one was listening to what I was about to say.

I made eye contact with Trish and whispered my suspicions.

"I think she might have a fourth stage" I gulp audibly.

"Is that even possible?" Trish snorted.

"I don't know, but whatever it was, cause her to be pretty upset. I'm just happy I ran away before things got heated" I said in relief.

We continue chatting; looking for a place to sit in. Luckily we found one.

"I heard she asked Austin Moon out and he flatly rejected her in front of everyone just like the last five times, not even spearing her a glance"

Bubbles started to emerge on my soup and suddenly I wasn't hungry anymore. Ugh. Can they make this food any less sickening? I pushed my trail to the side and gave my attention once again to my best friend.

"For real? Well that settles it. Poor Austin imagine what it would be like to go out with her. I don't blame the guy"

Trish made a distasteful face when I mention Brooke going out on a date.

"Ally do you mind? I'm trying to eat my pizza here"

I chuckled at her response grabbing my water to busy myself.

Trish was in the middle of telling me about the assaults that have been happening lately on Miami.

Crazy how things change this rapidly. Remember when you where just a baby and your only preoccupation was how to reach the cookie jar on the top counter of the kitchen. Good times good times.

The bell rang before she could finish. Before we went our separate ways, she told me to be safe incase we couldn't see each other when school was over and walk together to our apartment.

We decided that best way to stay close was for us to live together, besides we both attend the same university and with our budgets joined we could afford a dorm in the campus.

I was currently working on a coffee shop near the residences while Trish kept getting jobs after jobs on every local she could found.

I used to worked on my dad's music store when I was younger but I had to stop in order for me to come to collage. Dad hired someone else capable of being in charge of the store while he was away.

I was a little surprise when he told me he had someone else working on Sonic Boom because knowing my father he didn't like giving money away. I was lucky that he even gave me some when I was an employee there but nevertheless I still love him. To his luck a kid ask for a part time job and with a decent salary. He agree only because it was his cheaper offer.

I smile sadly. I miss him so much but it's comforting to know that he's away for now. If what the news say are true, we should take more precautions when going out.

I was about to close my locker door when a mop of messy blonde hair caught my eye.

Everyone was already piling up to enter class leaving the hallways almost deserted. I notice Austin walking back and forth near the gates entrance.

He's posture was rigid; he kept yanking his hair in frustration, clearly signs of frustration. He was on the phone with someone muttering what I guess swear words. Whatever it was it didn't look good.

He suddenly turned to face me and I turned a bit red that he had caught me watching him. He stared at me with a blank face and hang my head down because his stare was making me fidgety, but when I look up again he was gone.

Huh.

I wonder what goes in that head of his.

'Curiosity kill the cat' my subconscious reminded me. Well now is not the time to discuss with myself I yet had to go to class there was no way I was going to miss another.

But as soon as the lesson started my mind drifted with thoughts of Austin Moon and what is it so bad about him that everyone is so afraid of.

When school was over I send a quick message to Trish telling he that I was going to be a little late since I wanted to review what I had miss today on class.

'nerd' was her reply.

I snicker sending her one last text message.

It was past five and you could still feel the warm afternoon in the area. Luckily I had finished my assignments for the day and I was ready to head back to the paradise of what the A/C can provide.

I made a last stop on the drinking fountains nearby the lockers I was about to push the button to moister my dry throat when an echoing noise of someone being pushed against the lockers sounded.

Immediately Trish's telling came to mind and I ran to see is someone was being hurt. I hide behind the wall to get a peek of the situation, and I gasped when I saw the scene that was taking place in front of my eyes.

I was wide eyed, mouth-hanging open, panicking internally but what had me on the verge was the guy who held Austin.

He had a pocketknife ready to be stabbed someone and I took a wild guess that it was Austin since he was the only one visible on the area.

I stood there in shock not knowing what to do. Was I about to witness a murder?
