Spoilers: Ahhhhhhh, yeah, mostly for books 2 and 5
Disclaimer: I don't own Dragon Knights, I don't own Mineko Ohkami, and I don't have a secret stash of Rath and Thatz plushies hidden away in my closet! Honest! o_O; I think this is my cue to barricade the bedroom door....
Author's notes: Aaaaaaaaand this is another one of my typical fic-types: a weird, off-the-wall and unusually styled improv. First person, stream of consciousness, blah blah blah.... They're fun. ^_^ (Plus, they're the easiest thing to write at 2 in the morning.)

I'm a Dragon Knight.
That's never been in debate... OK, maybe it was for a little while, but that was a long time ago and I wasn't ready to accept my fate.
Still, there's another side to me, and I'm never going to bother to hide it.
I'm an expert treasure hunter.
Or, if you prefer a less politically correct term, a thief.

You'd think I'd have been in the business for the money.
And I was.
But that's not all.

You'd think I'd have been in it for the thrill.
I was in it for that, too.

But that's still not all.

You see, there was this girl....
This really annoying girl.
Maybe you've heard of her.
Maybe you've met her.
Either way, I don't envy you a bit.

Now, I'd been a thief before I met her.
I'd been one since I was a kid, and I was a damn good one too.
Well, OK, not damn good.
I wasn't exactly a piss-poor one, though.

Now this girl, she taught me things.
A few things about picking pockets, a few things about picking locks... and a few things that didn't have anything to do with theiving, just to make things interesting.
And after a while, I really did become a damn good thief.
But....

Well, everyone's luck runs dry sooner or later.
Mine just ran out sooner.

Things got tight, and the girl split.
Took all my cash, too.
Let me tell you, that ticked me off.
I should've known better than to trust her, but then, I always was a little too trusting for my own good.
Still am, probably, but that's OK.

I never really forgave her for running off like that.
I mean, all she left me was a lousy note.
The minute I saw that, I'd decided we were through.
From then on, all I would feel towards her was animosity with a capital A.

Of course, that was kind of hard to remember on the boat ride to Arinas.
We sat in that boat for who knows how long....
And those little taunts of hers nearly drove me over the edge.
She knew exactly which buttons to push, how, and when.
She is so annoying and perky and stubborn and giggly and all-fired gorgeous....

Shit.

Come on, Thatz, you hate her!
Remember?

I will always be a Dragon Knight.
But I will always be a thief, too.
And right now, I'm thinking of stealing Kitchel's heart.
After all, she already stole mine.
