This is a little something I wrote after finishing Trials and Tribulations. The Diego/Mia story is really tragic and makes for great writing material! This is a poem, so it's different than any other fanfic I've done... It's Mia reminiscing about what Diego has taught her. I hope you enjoy!
The Last Tears
"I told you not to cry," he always said
He told me not to cry
But to fight instead
And even now that voice still rings inside my head
You can't cry yet.
I kept those vows-
My tears were held
I started to see things your way-
You said that things will mend
If I never cry…
Till the very end.
"There's time for sorrow later,"
You would say,
"But now is your time, now is your day!
Seize your chance and make it the best-
Fight until God sends you rest."
So I never broke down and wept
And I would battle until in exhaustion
I slept.
It's a good way to live-
A broken heart can't thrive
Unless useless tears are keeping it alive.
I kept those vows,
And those tears I wouldn't shed
Until, in exhaustion, I reached the end
Victory or loss, I'd know I'd done well
And the tears I'd saved would begin to swell
One by one,
Dearly bought
Those tears would tell
Just how I had fought.
