A red car sped along a rough and uneven road, bouncing and shaking at every pothole it hit.

"Danno, don't you think this is a little dangerous?" Detective Steve McGarret questioned his second in command Danny Williams who was driving.

"I was invited to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of a coffee shop." Danny replied with a smile

"I'm sure they'd understand if you arrived a few minutes later," Steve remarked. "this isn't a matter of life or death."

Danny responded hurriedly, "Steve, I don't think you understand the severity of the situation. Anyone attending the ribbon cutting gets two cups of coffee free of charge. They're also having a raffle, the winner gets a year supply of coffee."

Steve chuckled for a moment before grimacing as they hit yet another pothole.

"Just slow down a little bit, will you?"

Danny complied and eased his foot from its perch on the gas pedal. The car responded accordingly and slowed its pace.

After driving for a few more miles, Danny veered off the road and into a shopping plaza. A crowd had already formed outside of the soon to be coffee and shouts were heard from the exited crowd.

Danny circled the parking lot before finding a space. He parked, took the key out of the ignition, hopped from the car and hurried over to the growing crowd. Steve followed suit with a little less enthusiasm.

As Steve walked closer to the mass of people he saw that they were passing out slips of paper. Those must be the raffle tickets. He thought.

A moment later a woman with dark wavy hair, turned to him and handed him a ticket.

" You'll have a chance at winning a year's worth of coffee," she said grinning. The woman then turned back to focus her attention on the entrance of the shop.

Steve glanced at the ticket he was holding. The number 39 was printed in bold font. Suddenly hearing a commotion in the front of the crowd he looked up .

A stout man with rosy cheeks and a big smile addressed the crowd. "I am very pleased to announce that Crazee Coffee is now officially in business." As he said this, the man took out a large golden pair of scissors and cut a long red ribbon hanging in front of the entrance.

The crowd went wild as the ribbon, now cut in half, floated to the ground. As the crowd dissipated Steve made his way back to Danny's car. He didn't feel in the mood for coffee. Instead he opened up the car door and sat in the passenger seat. Ten minutes went by before he saw any sign of Danny.

When he did see Danny in the rearview mirror, he noticed he had a big jovial grin plastered on his face. Curious as to why his friend looked so happy ,Steve asked him.

" When I went inside to order a coffee, the winner of the raffle was announced. I hadn't yet looked at my ticket, when I did ,I realized that I had the winning ticket. " Danny announced joyfully " Also, if you ever wanted some, let the owner know that you're a friend of Danny Williams the raffle winner."

"That's great to hear Danno, and that's nice of you to offer, but I think I've heard enough about coffee for today." Steve remarked

They both drove off. Driving once more on the pothole -ridden road. The large orange sun casting long shadows as it dipped behind trees, and the two detectives were as happy as could be.
