Rise in Revolution

"Insurrection is the most sacred of rights, and the most indispensable of duties."-Marquis De Lafayette

Prologue:

What happens when darkness overcomes you? What is life like when you see all of its beauty stripped from you and are left with a barren existence? How do you keep yourself from the madness seeking control you? Do you even resist? Do you let madness consume your being and become an even greater darkness, or do you seek to rid the darkness and bring light back into the world?

For the last ten years the world has been under the thumb of a mad man known as Drakken. Drakken had seized control of the world when he initiated what would be known as The Devils Day. The Devils Day was when Drakken released the mechanical terrors known as Diablos upon the world. Robots that could transform and repair themselves no matter the damage, their technological advances and terrifying numbers overwhelmed any resistance that could be mustered.

Some wonder. What could've turned the tide of the war? Some think that if more sacrifices had been made that we would've eventually prevailed of the Diablos. Others believe that a quick and painless surrender would've eased the destruction that was wrought upon the world. Yet a select few believe that a single person could've ended everything before it began, but it does little use to think of what could've been.

I used to be one of the few. I once thought that a single person might've changed the outcome, but after seeing what those demons Drakken unleashed can do, I'm doubtful. I've been fighting in this war since its beginning. It's a miracle I'm still alive some would say. I'd call it a curse. I've fought alongside men and women that deserved to live more than I did, but yet somehow I the buffoon am still alive. Although I guess I'm far from the fool I once was. War does that I suppose. Strips you of your innocence leaving you no choice but to harden yourself, or become mad from seeing one to many pairs of lifeless eyes. The soldier's question is made even more prominent in times like these; if not me, then who?

That's why we fight. This small rebel force and I. We're one of the few groups willing to fight to bring the light back. We have chosen the path of most resistance so that one day when we look into a child's eyes we something other than fear and pain. We fight for the day that people can know that they'll survive the next 24 hours. We fight so mothers won't have to fear their sons becoming cattle for slaughter in Drakken's army. We fight so fathers can one day rest easy knowing their daughters will not have to become slaves to dogs that would use them for their own pleasure. We fight to kill Drakken and drag his soul down into the farthest depths of hell.

My team and I are in route to a joint operation with another rebel force led by a woman known as Betty Director. She had once headed the organization known as Global Justice. A secret government agency tasked with policing the world. Drakken hit them first. Like everyone else they offered little resistance against the Diablos, but they survived and are willing to carry on the fight.

As our MH-60 Black Hawk sped us to the rally point I spoke with my right hand man Andrew Cain, a man of devout faith and violent intent. When I first met him he was a grief stricken mad man killing anything that came near the body of his dead wife. It took several of my men to subdue him. He resembled a rabid dog more than a man at the time. Recovery didn't start for him until I gave him what I assume was his wife's rosary and a tattered old bible. Both of which he carries at all times. As he himself recovered he spread the Lord's word to others afflicted by the war as he put it. After fighting together for so long together there's only one other person that has my trust more than he.

"Any words you'd like to give preacher?" I asked as I stood beside him. With a chuckle he smiled and replied. "Sure." Turning to address the rest of the team he began. "You know the Good Book has something to say about men like the ones we're going to face. It says that they will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction. So dear Lord don't let me die tonight!" A collective cheer rose up at his words before we all resumed securing our gear. Both Andrew and I were equipped with SCAR-H MK 17's, M9 Beretta's, and KA-BAR knives. We wore all black combat boots, cargo pants, compression shirts, tactical harnesses, and masks. Our best ally was the cover of night and we used it to its fullest. I only carried one other weapon a katana, which was given to me by a man that had the utmost faith in me. I only hope I can live up to his expectations. With the final gear checks completed we descended from the Black Hawk down into the drop zone and hustled to the rally point.

Quickly but quietly making it to the rally point we saw our allied team. Coming out of the brush we showed ourselves to our allies. The team's leader stepped forward and began introductions. "I'm Kim Possible." Now you see this posed two problems. One she wasn't Betty Director, and second…I was once in love with her. To avoid awkward reunions I decided to go on the offensive. "Where's Betty? She was supposed to be in on this op." I said with a bit of bite. Taken a back Kim recovered. "She'll meet with us once the missions over. We couldn't take the chance on this being a set up." I looked to Andrew for his opinion and with a nod he gave me his approval. "Alright let's get this over with." I said dreading the events unfolding. Taking a look at her team I saw the extreme foolishness of their intent. Equipped with mostly stun weapons I frowned and halted in my movements drawing Kim's attention. I couldn't believe it. I knew Kim believed in the best of people, but this was just idiocy. How did they expect to take down this depot, by using sticks and stones? I've known Kim since Pre-K and once upon a time I would've been considered more naive than her, but now I was filled with rage at her naiveté.

"What's wrong?" Kim asked. I turned on her in an instant. "What's wrong?! What are you thinking with this type of weaponry?! Are you expecting to fight teddy bears and unicorns? Because it seems you've come ill prepared for what we're doing!" I all but shouted. With fire in her eyes she fought back. "We're seeking to cause less bloodshed, not make it worse!" I laughed at her response. "Doesn't matter what you're thinking of doing. You're taking a backseat! My team will handle the depot. You guys just try not to get killed." With a hand signal my team and I ran to the depot leaving Kim and her team behind.

As we caught sight of the depot I could feel Andrew's eyes on my back. I knew he was probably wondering what caused my outburst back there, but seeing Kim again and seeing her still childish belief. I was infused with years of dormant anger. At least I can take it out on Drakken's scum. Silently taking out the guards we passed we made it into the main building. Once inside we headed for the head offices. Inside the offices we sought out the head officer's desk. Drakken may now rule the entire world, but that doesn't stop him from being a complete idiot. The fool still had a self-destruct button in ever facility. Just as I was about to hit the button alarms began to sound alerting the entire complex.

"Damn it!" I say as I slam the button with all my anger causing another set of sirens to sound along with the alarm. Running to the door I yell to my team. "We're live take out as many as you can and save the dumbasses that blew the op." Running outside we were met with a scramble of enemy troops and activating Diablos. "We're humped! Grab them and let's get out of here before the Diablos are on our asses!" I yelled over the gun fire. Kim and her team had managed to get themselves surrounded by Drakken's troops. Their weapons doing little good against their armor, lucky for them they can't shoot for shit. As we approached from behind my team and I opened fire. Bodies fell like flies as we fired upon them. I could see the look of horror and Kim's face, but I found little room in my heart to feel sympathy for her. After all this was in part her fault.

Using their shock to our advantage my team herded them out of the complex. Just as we were about to be home safe an explosion rocked me back halting our progress. As the debris cleared I could see one of the monstrosities before us. A diablo war bot stood in front our path to freedom. It looked like the bot was locking targets so without hesitation I began firing rounds from my SCAR at the Diablo. The bullets obviously didn't hurt it much, but they did turn its attention solely on me. Andrew already knowing my plan continued on ahead dragging Kim along because she refused to leave, but with a short struggle Andrew was leading them to the extraction point.

Now that my friends and allies were clear I could properly deal with the Diablo. As my SCAR ran out of ammo I unsheathed my katana. The blade took on an eerie blue glow releasing its ancient power. You see part of the reason I've survived this war is an ancient art known as Mystical Monkey Power. With enhanced speed, strength, agility, and a few other powers that are totally badical I'm one of the few people that can actually destroy a Diablo. With my blade fully drawn I charged the mechanical terror, and with four quick slashes I sent the monster into oblivion. Once the smoke cleared I ran away from the complex as fast as I could. I made it just in time to, because just as I got out the complex began to self-destruct causing a shockwave that would've killed me had it not been for my MMP. With that business finished I jogged to the extraction point using my MMP to shave some time.

When I got to the extraction point I saw that Betty Director had decided to show up. She and her operatives were on one side of the clearing while my team stood on the other. Seems things had gotten a little tense if the way Kim and Betty were talking was any indication. Andrew felt my presence before anyone else and greeted me as I came into the clearing. When Kim saw me she charged at me with Betty hot on her heels. Coming up to me Kim clawed at my face ripping my mask off while yelling at me. "How could you!? How could you kill so many!? You're a monster!" Kim yelled with tears streaming down her face. When I rose my head up I saw the shock and horror on her face, but only one thing came to mind. "What about all of the blood on your hands KP!" I yelled as I began to see red. Her only response was.

"Ron!"
