First in a series of mini stories/drabbles based off of a list of 100 prompts. Different characters throughout.
"Is mommy going to be alright daddy?" Asked a 5 year old Mako, sitting in the waiting room of a hospital.
"Of course, Mako." His father said. "And you'll get a very nice surprise, too." After being reassured by his father, he continued to play with wooden blocks. A few minutes after, a nurse came up to Mako's father, and told him to go into the room where, without Mako's knowledge, his mommy was giving birth.
"Let's go, son."
As they walked in, they noticed the most heartwarming moment ever.
Mako saw his mother… holding a baby.
It was the cutest thing he had ever seen. He was wrapped in a blue blanket which covered his head, but still, a small tuft of black hair managed to peek out. He had the most innocent, cute, emerald green eyes Mako had ever seen.
He walked over to it, and touched his cheek. At a moment's notice, in an swift, agile movement, almost like a baby ninja, the littlest family member grabbed onto Mako's nose.
After a hearty laugh, Mako hugged his new baby brother.
"What is his name going to be?" Mako's mother asked to no one in particular.
"Bolin" Mako blurted out. That name just… came to him. It was perfect.
"Bolin" Mako's father repeated thoughtfully, immersed in thinking.
"Perfect." Mako's (and Bolin's) mother stated.
-5 Years Later-
A 10 year old Mako was in his backyard, practicing firebending. He was learning how to make an inverse tornado of fire, practicing on a dummy.
He was taking a short 5-minute break when Bolin came up to him.
"Ko-ko!" "Guess what! I can earthbend!"
"That's great Bo" Mako replied dissmisively.
1...2...3...
"Wait, what do you mean, Bo?!"
And Bolin decided to show him.
He got into a sturdy stance, and telekinetically threw a stray brick across a good 10 meters.
"Wait till we show mom and dad, Bo!"
