Dean ran the make-shift razor down his face, relishing the coolness of the steel as it sliced away weeks of unwanted growth.
"Never took you for one of them pretty boys," Benny drawled, crouching beside his still shaving friend. "Any reason you feel you gotta do that right now ... something you wanna tell me ... you gotta hot date maybe?"
"Will have," Dean smirked, rinsing his knife in the stream. "If we ever get outta here."
"Not if brother ... when," the Vampire murmured, wiping his own knife clean; removing dried on blood; making ready for the next battle.

"I just don't get how you can still be friends with a vampire, Dean! It makes no sense."
Dean shrugged and carried on shaving, marvelling at the smooth ease with which the safety blades glided across his cheek, while remembering the feel of the edge of his bowie in its place, and the sure knowledge that it would only be a short time before he'd be wielding that blade with Benny's shoulders pressed against his back.
Brothers in adversity, a friendship born out of blood, maintained through unanticipated loyalty.
Dean wasn't good with words, so he chose to say nothing.

Standing alone in some dilatory motel room; Benny's thoughts wandered to his absent friend, no – check that; his brother.
Over this last year, he and Dean had lived side-by-side, watching each others' backs; no questions and no secrets.
He knew Dean was in hot water with his 'real' brother for befriending a vampire, he also knew that bonds formed in blood could be as strong as those formed by blood.
Benny would gladly feel the bite of Dean's faithful knife before he would betray Dean's faith in him.
He hoped Sam would see that one day.
For Dean's sake.
