Emma opened the door to her room. She flicked on the light switch next to her shoulder, and light illuminated her room. She closed the door and, with a sigh, collasped onto her bed.

Another day spent with Craig and Manny. Watching them together made her sick to her stomach, espiecially because she wanted him so badly. But she had to pretend that she was ok with it, had to pretend that she didn't care. But those notions couldn't have been further from the truth.

She remembered after the Senior's 80s Dance how Manny had called and apologized for what had happened and had asked her permission to date Craig. How could she have said no? Since she didn't want to be labeled as a sour grape, she condoned to let Manny date Craig, soothing Manny with the words, "It's ok. I didn't like him that much anyways."

How she wish that she could've just said no. She didn't know how long she could take watching Manny in Craig's arms, or watching the two of them share a kiss. She couldn't help but think, 'That should be me. He belongs to me.' She didn't know what to do.

A knock on her door brought her out of her thoughts. "Come in," she said, with a voice that sounded obviously disturbed. Her mom walked in and sat on the bed beside where she was laying.

"Have fun tonight kid?" her mother asked her, rubbing her arm.

"Yeah, it was great. Had the fun of seeing Manny and Craig make out." Her mother laughed, but she didn't. Her mother noticed this and sobered up. She stopped rubbing Emma's arm and patted her shoulder, saying,

"Emma, I know how much it hurts. But you've got to get over it. Be happy that Manny's found someone." Emma sighed deeply. She felt the sting of tears come to her eyes. She closed her eyes in an attempt to keep them back, and said, her voice shaking with surpressed tears,

"How come it had to be someone that I like?" Then her eyelids failed her, and the tears burst forth.

"Aww baby," her mother said, gathering her daughter and bringing her into an embrace. For awhile Emma just cried, before her mother said,

"Emma, you're going to be alright, I assure you. You'll find someone, I promise." Emma just sniffled. She doubted that. Craig was her someone. There was no one else.

After the crying died down, her mother realeased her and she layed down on the bed. "Are you ok now?" her mother asked her, once again rubbing her shoulder. Emma nodded, sniffling. Her mother gave her a half smile and got off of the bed, leaving the room.

When the door closed, Emma turned around to her other side. Though her mother had tried, there was truly no sort of comfort for Emma. Her heart was broken. She felt betrayed that her best friend should go after a guy that Emma had liked, whether she condoned it or not. It was a rule - best friends don't date each other's beaux.

'But he asked her to dance,' her good side went. That was true, but still. Manny had known what a big crush Emma had had on Craig. It didn't seem like a good excuse.

Firmly in her mind, Emma decided that she was going to get Craig. He belonged to her. And she would stop at nothing. She knew exactly who could help her.
