Title: "Out of the Blue"
Pairings: Shinn/Lunamaria, Shinn/Stellar, and a bit of Athrun/Lunamaria
Rating: R (some explicit sexual content)
Word Count: 592
Genre: Drama/Angst
Author's Note: Written after watching Phase 38 of Destiny (therefore beware of spoilers). The whole Stellar/Shinn thing ended in Phase 32, and now their replacing it. A bit of my take on it. Don't usually write sex scenes, or if I do not very descriptive ones, but sometimes I like to break the mold. Like now.

"Shinn!" Lunamaria called, the echoing of her footsteps inaudible through the buzz of the mechanics as she raced towards Destiny, pushing through the small crowd gathered at its feet. "Shinn!"

The boy glanced at her, a faint smile on his lips. "You did well in Impulse."

Lunamaria blushed, ducking her head to hide her pleasure at those simple words. "But you were amazing!" she replied.

Shinn shrugged, a shadow flickering across his face. "It was my duty."

"But it doesn't change the fact that you were fantastic out there!"

He shrugged again. "But people still died." He turned, brushing off the excited mechanics as he strode out of the hanger.

No one noticed Lunamaria standing there in his wake, staring after him, lost in her own world.

She knew she shouldn't love him. He'd killed her sister, Meyrin, as well as Athrun. They'd been labeled traitors, and she knew that she would have had to do the same in his place, but it didn't make it hurt any less. Ever since she had been little, she had told herself that, if anyone ever hurt Meyrin, she would kill him or her. Yet that was one promise she couldn't bring herself to keep.

She wasn't sure when she first developed a crush on the introverted boy. Maybe it was that first day in the military academy, when she'd noticed him sitting alone, and had promptly gone up and joined him, starting off what was, to say the least, an interesting friendship. Or maybe it was graduation day, when he'd been so bashful and humble, almost like a different person. But whenever it was that her infatuation had begun, it had lasted throughout their times on the Minerva. She may have had an interest in Athrun Zala, but her feelings for Shinn had never disappeared.

She still wasn't sure what had driven her to steal that kiss before they had attacked Heaven's Base. It was reckless, foolish, unloyal. Yet she couldn't fight her feelings. Which was why she hadn't refused Shinn when he'd come in the middle of the night, hungrily kissing her out of the blue.

What had followed was a violation of military law, since any sexual relationship was not allowed. But it had felt so good. The feel of his lips on hers, kisses trailing down her neck, between her breasts. The rhythm of Shinn inside of her, the almost frantic thrusts. In her pleasure she had called out his name, her world exploding as she rode her high, climaxing in time to hear Shinn utter one word: "Stellar!"

When they lay at last, limbs entangled, sheets and clothing lying about the room, Luna let out a sigh of happiness. At last, her hopes were coming true. Shinn loved her. After all, why else come to her for comfort, and why else go as far as to have sex? She rolled over, shifting to face the boy, who was staring at the ceiling. "Shinn?"

He grunted in reply, not rolling over to look at her.

"Shinn, I love you." She waited for a moment, waiting to hear him repeat her words lovingly to her, for them to passionately make love again. Yet all that could be heard was silence. "Shinn?"

He rolled over, carefully slipping from Lunamaria's grasp as he stood, pulling on his discarded uniform. "I'm sorry Luna. But I'll always love Stellar, no one else." With that he slipped from her room, the door closing behind him, the light disappearing with it.

"He doesn't love me?"
