A/N: Howdy. So what we have here is a little piece of Commander Bly watching Generals Aayla Secura and Kit Fisto eating (*coughflirtingcough*), trust me I don't even know how this one started. And yes I know I should be probably be doing something more productive, but I just graduated, and I have 2 months and 1 day left of turning my brain into mush, so I'm trying to get a head start with getting this out of my head. I'm going to try to make this into a trilogy of one-shots (my speciality), all focusing on each of the lovers' POVs, hopefully the next one will be Aayla's.

Expectations

It hurt.

She told him that she loved him.

But now that they were back on Coruscant she was practically in that Nautolan's arms.

He should have expected this. What could he offer her? He was just a clone, expendable. He was a Jedi Master, he had a much better chance of surviving this war.

She was a Twi'lek though. Everyone wanted her some way or another. Even her old master Quinlan Vos. He shouldn't have expected anything from her.

He would give anything for her to fully love him like he loves her. Like she loves Fisto. He would do anything to be with her, truly. He would even leave the GAR if it meant the slightest possibility of her loving him.

Was all his life a lie? Was all his service to her a lie? He served her by his love.

When he was first assigned to her, all his pre-concieved notions about her melted away. She was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen. Even his brothers thought so. With the latest re-enforcements brought an airheaded rookie named Skit, who went so far as to ask her if she was an Angel from Iego in disguise. Skit didn't last long on the battlefield.

He is drawn back to the moment by her laughter. He looks at the two, wishing that it was his hand she was grasping as she threw back her head in laughter. He still doesn't get why his chest is aching when they promised nothing to each other. When they expected nothing from each other. But to watch them alone in the Mess... he is reminded that for a short while she was his.
