The side of his hook caressed her tan cheek. She closed her eyes, a soft gasp leaving her. His hand came up to the other side of her face, reveling in the smoothness that was her skin, ignoring the spots were her flesh was torn. He pulled her to him, burying his hand in her short locks, so soft it was like reaching for the skies and feeling nothing and he lifted her so she sat in his lap. Her good arm curled around his middle drawing them closer so not even the winds could push them apart.

It was the final battle and Cora had lost.
Good had won, but it wasn't without causalities. The blonde one, the Savior, Emma sobbed openly into Snow White's chest, Prince Charming behind her, trying to hold himself together for his grown daughter. In the distance, an old woman cried heavily over a skinny young woman with streaks of red in her hair. The boy, Regina's boy, sat on the curb, watching all the death and tears around him, taking it in, slowly allowing it to take away his innocence.
Belle, his crocodile's new mate, lay face down in a puddle of blood, her arms bent at an unnatural angle. Hook wished he could go back to feeling glad Rumplestiltskin had a weakness, but he couldn't. After all, he thought as he felt Regina give a few shuddering breaths against his skin, he developed one too. And he wished all this didn't have to happen so that she could live, even if it meant his crocodile would be happy too.
"I'm so tired." She whispered as loud as she could, rolling her head backwards onto Hook's shoulder, her body weak and her mind following. He brought his gaze to her once more.
Hook's face twisted. "Then go to sleep." He whispered back, soft and broken.
Regina lifted her dulling eyes and unfocusedly stared at Hook's equally dark orbs. "Promise you'll be here when I wake up?"
"Would I be anywhere else, love?" He answered, stroking back Regina's dirty hair, letting his fingers trail to a bloodied cheek. Regina nodded once, letting her head fall back to where it was against his neck. "Sleep, love." He whispered to her even as her body grew cold and she lost her color. "Sleep. I'll be with you soon enough."
