A/N: Quick one-shot. I think this pairing is quite cute, although not very many people agree with me; too many are in love with Jiro/Kluke. Not that there's anything wrong with that pairing! I'm going to write a story or two for them:)
Set shortly after game one, which is the only game I actually like.
Sahlia stared at the setting sun, remembering what she'd thought when she'd been in this spot two months ago. It had also been the last time she'd visited this place as her friends and neighbours had banned her from going there, scared she'd try again. The last time she'd been stood in this very spot, Sahlia had been contemplating suicide, wishing to escape from the hell that people called life. But now, her life wasn't hell, it was actually quite peaceful. Of course, that didn't rid her of the overwhelming sadness that overcame her every time she thought of her parents. And it didn't banish the guilty feeling she felt every time anyone mention how close she'd been to throwing her life away.
"Sahlia?" Although the voice came from no less than a metre behind her, it sounded distant. "Sahlia?" The voice asked again, sounding more concerned. Once again, Sahlia heard the voice, but it was just as distant as before, sounding like nothing more than a voice inside her head. The voices surrounding her had a tendency to do that when she was deep in thought as she was now. The heart-breaking thoughts about her parents, ones that always consumed her brain whenever she was unoccupied, were like a black hole; there was never a good side to them.
A hand touched her shoulder and she snapped out of her trance. Ashamed of how she must have looked, Sahlia lowered her head and stared at her feet. "I know how that must have looked." She began hoarsely, biting her lip furiously to keep the tears from coming. "But I promise I wasn't having suicide thoughts again."
"What's wrong?" The voice said, now clear who it was. Sahlia slowly lifted her head to look at them, hoping her sadness wouldn't be etched across her face. But it was. Pitying the girl before him who was so obviously close to tears, Jiro once again placed his hand on her shoulder. Staring into her watering eyes, he opened his mouth to repeat to her the advice he'd given Kluke in Lago Village. "Tears can ease your sorrow. So go ahead and cry as much as you want."
"Thank you, Jiro." Sahlia cried, tears streaming down her face. To distracted by her tears to feel embarassed, she buried her face into his shoulder, hoping he wouldn't mind. Jiro tensed at the sudden movement, not expecting anything even close to that gesture, but tried his best to comfort her anyway. Gently, he rubbed her head, muttering about how everything would be fine in the end and reassuring her that the eat-yeet was gone forever. And he kept doing that, deep into the night until she finally stopped crying. Until he was pretty sure that she was once again okay.
"Thank you so much!" Sahlia choked hoarsely, barely able to speak. Cheeks burning bright red, she wiped her bloodshot eyes. Words could not say how greatful she was, so she did something that she wouldn't normally do, hoping Jiro wouldn't take it the wrong way; he was in love with Kluke. Quickly, she pecked him on the cheek and hurried away, embarassment taking place of where her sadness had once been.
