Hermione Granger – Zabini walked back into the master bedroom which belonged to herself and her husband of four years and looked at the muggle alarm clock on the side table. It read '04:55'. Hermione groaned and climbed back into bed; she snuggled up to her warm husband and wrapped her arm around his waist.
'Has she gone back off alright?' Blaise asked as he wrapped his wife in his arms.
'Yeah.' She mumbled as she snuggled into his bare chest. 'I think she's teething; I had to change her sleep suit as she dribbled so much. I think I'm in for a long day tomorrow.'
Blaise kissed the top of his wife's head and rubbed her back soothingly. 'I'm sure it will pass and we have that paste from Severus in the cupboard downstairs if she needs it.'
'Thank god for Severus Snape!' She moaned as she lifted her thigh over Blaise's. 'I sometimes wonder if I'm cut out for this.'
'Cut out for what?' Blaise said now fully awake.
'Motherhood.' She replied as she yawned. 'It's the hardest job I've ever had but the most rewarding.'
'Do you think you'll go back to work?' He asked.
They had spoken about Hermione not returning to work after her maternity finished but Hermione was unsure. She loved her job and she had worked so hard to get where she was and she knew leaving would mean climbing back up the ladder later on.
'I'm not sure but I'm leaning to not going back. I quite like being home with Essie and being here when you get home. It's weird I never thought I'd like being a housewife but I love it.' Hermione said as she looked at Blaise. 'And I was also thinking if we had more babies it would be better if I was home. I mean we did want a small age gap right so it would probably be better if I stayed home now while they're young and then start work when they start school.'
'I think that's a good idea.' He said as he smiled into the darkness. 'I like having you home. Let's face it we can survive on my salary.'
'Blaise, you don't really ever need to work thanks to your mother's inheritance.' Hermione said as she curled into him. 'You're mother was a professional gold digger although I did like her.'
'She did what she knew best.' Blaise said as he thought of his now deceased mother.
'I do wish Essie could have met her though. I'm sure she would have loved her Grandmother.' Hermione said as she placed a kiss on his bare chest.
'My mother would have hated being called Grandmother.' Blaise said laughing. 'She would have killed herself before anyone called her Granny. When I was young she used to get me to call her Karina instead of mother.'
'Do you miss her?' Hermione asked.
'Sometimes.' Blaise said as he threaded his fingers through Hermione's. 'I think of her everyday but some days I think of the times she wasn't a mother to me and it makes me angry. I look at you with Essie and I wonder was she ever like that with me as a baby.'
'I expect she was.' Hermione said as she squeezed his hand. 'She loved you Blaise, I'm sure of it. A mother's love for her child is unconditional, trust me.'
'And what about children?' He asked. 'More children?'
'I'm not sure I'd love anyone more than Essie.' She said as she looked at him. 'I would love another baby but I wonder whether I'll love that little one the same.'
'I'm sure you can.' He said as he leant down and kissed her.
'I think we should wait until she's a little older to try for another.' She said as she cupped Blaise's cheek. 'I want to enjoy her first.'
'We can still practice though.' He said as he leaned up over Hermione. 'Practice makes perfect.'
