The Truth About Jason Grace

Jason held Piper's hands awkwardly, much in the fashion of one holding a steaming pan without oven mitts. He couldn't put this off any longer—she had a right to know.

"Piper," he began, taking a shaky breath.

"What's wrong?" Piper asked, feeling him tense.

"Now that my memories have returned…all of my memories…there's something I have to tell you."

"What is it?" she asked, concerned. No, it couldn't be…

"It's not you." he started again, trying to be as gentle as he could with the topic. Girls were fragile, after all.

Piper didn't say anything. She knew what was coming. It was all she could do to hold in how crushed she was feeling.

"I just realized…the reason I was attracted to you was…you reminded me of my girlfriend back home. That's all it was, Piper. I'm sorry."

Piper stared at her sneakers. This couldn't be happening. "What's she like? Your girlfriend, I mean?"

Jason sighed. "She's…well, she's like you, but…better. Her name is Bella Swan."

"Bella…Swan?"

Jason sighed again. "Yeah. And that reminds me—I've also remembered my real name. It's not Jason Grace after all. I'm Edward Cullen."

A/N: Just to be absolutely clear, when Jason says that Bella is "better" than Piper, I'm only saying she's more of a Sue. Reviews are welcome.
