Sora watched the stars gleam from his bedroom window—the sky heaving with the dots of light. A lonesome shooting star shot through the sky headed in the direction of the horizon. A small smile lit up on Sora's face as he recalled the time when he couldn't have enjoyed the simple things as just watching the night sky. The worlds had been in too much danger to think about such novelties.
Why is it that whenever I get some time to enjoy myself, the worlds end up getting into trouble again?
Sora shook his head when he spotted Donald and Goofy out sitting down on the pier, them too looking out at the stars. Apparently, Mickey had already sent them down here a day after Sora had received the message in a bottle. It had been almost a week since they had received it and had a bit of time to visit their parents, friends, and their old hiding place. But, now they had to leave again. The only exception was that this time, Destiny Islands wasn't being devoured by darkness.
Donald and Goofy were hunched over, an air of secrecy surrounding them. It struck Sora that they'd be so secretive at a time like this. Usually, he'd be able to hear Donald's quacking voice over a mile away. Then again, they weren't really supposed to be here—visitors from other worlds attracted the danger of knowledge. It did make some sense, but Sora couldn't help but wonder. Swinging his bare feet through the window, Sora slunk out of his room, landing on the soft sand. He crept his way over—his curiosity getting the better of him—and positioned himself under the pier, far yet close enough to be able to hear the conversation going on between Donald and Goofy.
"Boy, am I going to miss Daisy again," Donald sighed.
"Aw, don't worry Donald, you'll see her again. You always do," Goofy reassured him.
"Yeah, but this isn't going to be so easy like the first time," Donald swayed his feet around nervously.
Goofy's eyebrows furrowed. "How do you know that?"
"Well, um, I overheard King Mickey saying that we had to include another person in with us on our quest. And that, that person was going to be the key to our mission. If, we don't manage to lose them or have their heart be stolen away by the heartless," Donald murmured.
"You don't say. Well, don't worry Donald. I'm sure that person will be in good hands once they team up with us. Why, we never lost Sora. We all always stuck around with each other," Goofy said assuringly, patting Donald on his shoulder.
"Well, I hope so Goofy. I hope so," Donald trailed off.
A silence of finality, accompanied by the hissing waves, settled around the two, making Sora decide it was time to return. Trailing carefully through the pebble-specked sand, he made his way home, jumping right through his open window. He took a final glance back at Donald and Goofy, neither of them seeming as if they'd heard or even noticed his presence. He sighed in relief, shaking his head, and looking back up at the stars. What did they mean by that person being their key? Was it a fancy way to say that that person had a keyblade, too? And, who were they?
How would Donald be so sure that, that person would save us in the end? What if they were really our doom in the end? I probably should explain this to Riku on our way to Disney Castle tomorrow.
"Sora! Dinner's ready!" Sora's mom hollered, breaking the brunet from his thoughts.
"Coming!" he answered back.
Sora pulled his door open and ran down to meet the delicious aroma of his mom's home-made spaghetti, not bothering to see that several stars had already disappeared from the sky.
Who really is this mysterious person? Is it a boy or a girl or maybe a Disney character, perhaps? It will be revealed in Chapter 2, so keep reading! And rate and review, please!
P.S. I really can't wait for Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance to come out in the U.S. in English!
10/16/15 UPDATE: Wow, so it's been a while since I've written at all, and I am actually embarrassed of my writing. But, I'm back! A few years late, but I'm here! I'm going to try and revise and rewrite this story as best as possible and, maybe, try to continue it, but there's no guarantee. Wish me luck!
