Hello, and thanks for checking out my little story… right now, the plan is to make this a sort of one-off chapter just too kind of see how it plays out with people… I haven't written an actual story in quite some time and certainly will be very rusty, but will still try my best anyways to convey what I hope would be a great story!

With that out of the way, I hope you enjoy it! And if you wish to, like the story and give it a simple review!

Prologue

Year: 1995

As the sun rises on a beautiful and calm Saturday morning where not a single cloud is rolling through the Zootopian skyline. A city which had formed barely even 15 years ago. A place where anyone can be anything! Today was the first day for John Wilde, a well-groomed fox who had just opened his first tailor store. Called Suit-Topia. A very good play on words for anyone's standpoint. Even if people who first saw it groaned at the name with the shop being located in Zootopia.

Mr. Wilde had arrived at the store at promptly 7:30 to begin the first day well. He had employed about 3 or so other mammals including an Otter, Tiger, as well as a Buffalo. All specifically selected to help the wide range of specific species. The customers are always first before the needs of the shop itself. That was Mr. Wilde's motto.

The first day had gone very well, customers came in at a steady pace. Some a little wearied as foxes were known to be cunning, and felt like they may be conned. Of course, everyone left with great expectations of their suits. The customers felt like they were in great hands, and that allowed word to spread and within a month the store became a great success!

While the shop may not have been in the greatest area of Zootopia, It was far from 'the hood' of the main city. Not everyone had been so keen on a Foxes success. Why should a fox succeed where others have failed? Foxes are nothing but cunning and tricksters. Little Loki's running around in their red furred bodies. That was the thoughts of one Bolliger Canis, a wolf of sorts who had been living on the lower end of the success chain after failing to keep a good job due to his near homelessness. Something needed to change, and the fact that a FOX was doing better than him in life made his blood boil. Plus John Wilde was a trickster in school, and Bolliger came from the same school, and had been tricked by Mr. Wilde before. This was almost revenge.

To sum up a pretty brief high school career. Bolliger was charming with the ladies and vixens. One time Bolliger went a little too far and tried to flirt with the now Mrs. Wilde, and John had played at Bollinger's game and trick him big time at a bigger high school party. This actually caused Bolliger to lose a lot of his social status in the high school and the wolf had always kept the grudge.

It was later into a Wednesday afternoon. All the employees were on break except for Mr. Wilde himself as he took care of the store while there was little to no customers. He was assisting an otter who was about to get married to an unknown bride. John didn't really dive into the Otter's personal life too much. It was at this moment that the wolf had entered the store.

Bolliger was wearing a hoodie, with the hood down right now. Holding his paws inside the connected pocket of the hoodie. John Wilde heard the bell ring that the door opened and looked towards the wolf. The fox did not instantly recognize the wolf, but still greeted him. "Hello sir! I'll be right with you in about 2 minutes!" The wolf looked at the fox and nodded before he began to walk around the store quietly.

As John finished up with his Otter customer and allowed the Otter to continue to browse real fast until the mammal found a suit that fitted his style best, John walked over to the Wolf and greeted again, "hello! Sorry about the short little wait. What could I do for you today?" He asked the wolf.

The wolf looked towards him and then back up at the suits before saying, "Yeah I was interested in getting a new suit."

John nodded to the wolf "That's good! What's the special occasion?"

"Funeral." The wolf said almost cold like

John kind of hesitated for a moment but continued to try to keep his voice happy, "Oh! I'm sorry to hear about this… Could I ask though, who's the funeral for?" the fox asked

"You." The wolf said as he pulled the gun out of his pocket and aimed it at the fox.

The fox quickly threw his paws into the air as he was staring down the barrel of a gun "Hey… what do you want? You want money? I can give you money?"

"I don't want your money, I want what you took away from me all those years ago! Your life." The wolf said in a dark tone.

The fox tilted his head slightly looking at the wolf in front of him. "Bolliger…?"

The wolf didn't hesitate, and pulled the trigger right then and there. The bullet hitting the top of John's heart as it went through his body and the fox collapsed to the ground gasping.

The wolf heard the otter that was also in the building quickly trying to run for the door, and aimed the gun towards the scurrying otter and shot the creature in the back, which caused the otter to fall onto the ground lifeless.

Bolliger looked at the gun and then at John who was lying on the floor, before he placed his gun into the hoodie pocket and then threw his hood up as he ran out of the store. It only took about 15 minutes before one of the employees who was working returned to the store to find the crime scene to find his Boss and the Otter lying dead on the floor of the store.

When the police officers arrived, they came out of their cars and went to secure the crime scene.

"Bogo!" One of the officers shouted, an older polar bear. To which a Buffalo walked towards said officer.

"Yes sir?" Bogo was a recently fresh cadet out of the academy. Having only finished the schooling and made it to Precinct One less than 3 weeks ago. This was his first major case it looked like.

"Go ahead and get statements and try to see if any cameras in this area happened to catch who did this." The officer responded.

"Yes sir." Bogo stated and then began to get statements from anyone who happened to see anything, but it was only the employee who returned to work who called them in that really had anything to say, and even then. It wasn't even work much.

Nick Wilde who had been at school was making his way to his father's store, noticed the police lights at his father's store when he rounded a distant corner. This made Nick put his ears against his skull as he suddenly took a dead sprint towards the store.

The officers didn't notice the Fox kid until after the fox attempted to get through the police tape and try to get into the store. Bogo was the officer that spotted the kid and grabbed the kid before he ran inside.

Nick squirmed as he attempted to get free from the Buffalo's grasp. He saw a glimpse of red fur behind some of the racks that were holding some pre-made suits on them, but not enough. "Dad?!" Nick shouted.

The word Nick shouted out made the other officers realize that Nick was even there. He was a small fox compared to them and they didn't notice at all. Bogo heard the word the young fox had shouted and realize there might be a bigger problem to deal with now than we was expecting to deal with.

"Dad!" Nick shouted again, trying to hold tears back as he still struggled to get free of the Buffalo.

Bogo held the young fox well and tried to calm down. "Son... you can't go in there, we can't have anyone in there."

Nick heard the Buffalo, but did not want to listen to it as he still tried to break free. Bogo signed slightly and looked at the older Polar Bear which was now coming towards him to take the young fox away.

When the Polar Bear did do this, Nick tried to get away even more now. "No!" He shouted as Nick was moving away from the store front now in the Polar Bear's paws.

"I'm sorry young man… This is a crime scene… we can't have you in there." The Polar Bear stated trying to get Nick to calm down himself now.

Nick at this point had begun to cry… His father his last major connection to the world other than his mother, but after the muzzling incident that happened not even 2 months ago, Nick began to grow distant from his mother and sister he was living with. Finally after the right amount of struggling, Nick broke free of the Polar bear… but instead of running towards the store, he ran away back towards his own home.

The young fox tried to keep his tears together as he ran home, all the way home. This wasn't happening, it couldn't be happening. Why him? Why is everything bad happening right now? It can't be… His father and his suit store was one of the main things that kept him on track… and now it was taken away from him. He can't stay with his mother and sister… He was running away.

Running away from home, running away from the city, if he could. Once Nick made it home, he noticed he was the only one in the apartment. Perfect. He grabbed some cloths and a photo of his father and stuffed them into his backpack at home, since the one he had at the suit store fell off when he was running towards the store. When he felt like he had enough on him to survive, he left the house. Leaving behind what little family he had left to him.

The story of Nick Wilde has always been the life of a fox who just wanted to fit in, to do good in the world. Yet, his fox status made it difficult to do anything… who would trust a fox? They're nothing but tricksters. No one trusts foxes to do anything.

Life was about to become rough for the young fox running away into the big city…
