All of it was darkness…no light to escape to. Shivers embraced the child; she froze with pain. She was none other than a helpless creature thrown to the abyss of death.
"Himeka…Kujyou Himeka…"
Himeka. That mere sound was a name. Her name. But now it was meaningless. It was nothing more than a forgotten word.
"Who are you?" Her voice was a faint whisper, barely audible.
"We welcome you to death."
It was a word that brought fear to the living—death was. She was no different. That word scared her as well for it meant end. Everything up until now would perish. She should have known; these days of happiness would eventually come to an end. All good things must come to an end without exception.
Why…why did it have to be Himeka-chan?
The girl gave up on that question months ago. It has already been years since that day. And even now they mourned her death.
Her emerald eyes stole a glance at the boy beside her. He continued to stare at the floor…most likely still blaming himself about the incident.
She hadn't dared to mention Himeka's name. It was far too painful to speak…not only for her…for everyone.
The scene faded abruptly. "Karin-chan…Kazune-chan…I'm sorry…"
Perhaps this was her punishment. For causing this pain for those who worked hard to protect her, repenting in this eternal nightmare was a small price to pay.
