Sheik Hateno
It was a warm day in Lurelin when I received the response from Beacon Academy to my application to attend the institution, to further my education as a huntress. I had chosen Beacon over Haven due to the more diverse educational opportunities available which is the result of Vale's multicultural society. Beacon had approved my application and I would have a place at Beacon when the school year began in a day's time. I had spent the rest of the day, taking inventory of the necessities such as the academic material required such as my scroll and the more practical equipment required such as my weaponry, ensuring that my throwing needles and my katana were sharp and pristine.
Beacon had prepared transport for students arriving from Mistral at an airfield located on the outskirts of the capital of the Kingdom which was located southeast of Lurelin. I arrived early to avoid the inevitable crowd that would gather as the time of departure drew closer. A few minutes after I had secured myself a seat in the corner, I heard a large crowd gathering, it was still half an hour until departure, so it must be a celebrity, such as a member of the upper class of Mistral must be boarding. My suspicions were soon confirmed when the face of the celebrity came into my line of sight, it was the four-time champion of the Mistral Regional Tournament, the so called "invincible girl". In my perspective those who believe themselves to be invincible are doomed to fall sooner rather than later. I didn't care when she sat as long, she kept herself and her rabid fanbase away from me.
Half an hour later, we finally landed at Beacon. One of the first things that I noticed upon exiting the craft was the large crater located in the middle of the courtyard which appeared to be the result of multiple types of dust, that was likely set off by a sudden blast of wind such as a sneeze given the appearance of the crater. Regardless the mystery of the crater was a mystery for another day, and so I continued along with my fellow students to the lecture hall when we would be staying the night before initiation.
After a while, all the students had gathered in the lecture hall with a few latecomers such as a female student in a red cloak and hood who seemed to be very young and a scraggly male student who would have appeared similar to the knights from fairy tales if it wasn't for the Pumpkin Pete's undershirt that I spotted beneath his armour. The headmaster, Ozpin soon arrived and began to address the student body in an honestly disturbing speech, the actual speech was fine, but the way he said it was unnerving with the way he suddenly switched tones made it appear like a different personality had taken control, perhaps it was the result of whatever the headmaster's semblance was.
Following the headmaster's speech, we were sent to where we would spend the night before Initiation. Fortunately, I was able to get dressed into my nightwear without issues, the night had a few highlights such as when I noticed the guy from before wearing a bunny onesie which got a chuckle out from me. It would be best if I went to sleep now rather than paying attention to the antics of the other students. As I laid down on the bedroll and surrendered to the lure of slumber, I wondered on what method would be used to determine the teams and what would be the nature of initiation as it is different every year.
