James Bond Park

Chapter One

The sea roared viciously against the jagged rocks of the fog covered coast. Sea spray hit the face of the man on deck of the luxury yacht, the Disco Valante. He didn't like what his employer had planned for him and his crew. But Vargas, a hired yet loyal killer to the millionaire Emilio Largo, never complained. He only ever did what he was told, and he did it well. Very well in fact. He was assigned by Largo to lead a squad of fellow killers onto the island in front of him to liaise a weapons deal with dozens of other criminals and their respective organisations of varying scale in an arms bazaar. Vargas looked out to the near horizon and saw a small fleet of ships, including other yachts, a peculiar looking stealth ship and even a huge tanker. He was pondering about how serious the whole operation and even the location seemed to be when his right hand man and partner, Janni, a rough looking man of medium build and strength, approached him.

'We've been summoned to the control room.'

'I'll be there in a moment.' He couldn't resist looking at the island one more time. It was the only thing apart from violence that he enjoyed doing.

Emilio Largo was a grey haired man, missing his left eye and wearing a suit. He sat at the end of the table on the far end of the room with guards surrounding him. He put the fear of God into lesser employees but to Vargas he was a man much like himself. Largo was a calm and collected man who never showed much anger, at least in the traditional manner. Vargas had remembered a few years ago, when Largo was angry at an employee for failing to kill someone, the man had barked an order to Vargas and Janni to throw the failed assassin, Quist, into a swimming pool inhabited by sharks. The incident was one of the only times Largo was seen to be angry. There were rumours however that Largo had abused him mistress, Domino, by means of interesting torture methods. Vargas never asked about them.

'You know what you are doing this for?' Largo asked Vargas and the rest of his men.

Vargas, a quiet man replied with a simple 'Yes sir.'

His boss continued anyway, as if the man he asked was unsure of his task. 'SPECTRE needs this island for our new base of operations as our previous island proved inadequate and far too small for our purposes. We need you to make a deal with the other dealers, not only for weapons but also the island itself.' He paused, eyeing up each and every one of his men in front of him. 'Is that understood?'

Vargas nodded and walked out with Janni and the rest.
